My daughter had her wedding ceremony in Fayerdale Hall. The venue was perfect and the location was beautiful! We also booked cabins on the premises. They were well appointed and had modern conveniences. They were also very clean. Everyone we encountered was extremely helpful and kind. Many wonderful memories were made in Fairy Stone.

Fayerdale Hall at Fairy Stone State Park is the perfect place for a storybook wedding! We hosted over 100 friends and family in the hall for my daughter’s wedding in August 2025, and it was perfect! Upon arrival, everything was ready to go and check in was super easy. We rented the hall for the entire weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) which made decorating and clean up so much easier. The wedding was inside Fayerdale, and we (the groom’s brothers and some friends) flipped the hall within 15 minutes for the reception while guests milled about outside on the porch under the tent enjoying appetizers and the wedding party did pictures. The tables were already decorated, so they just had to move them and rearrange the chairs. In addition, we (parents/family friends) rented several cabins so we could be close by. NOTE: there’s no cell service at the cabins, so be prepared. Our walkie talkies also didn’t work. Fayerdale Hall has WiFi, so we were able to make contact with the outside world and get messages. The bridal party stayed nearby in an AirBnB in the Reserve which is just a mile or so from Fairy Stone (with WiFi – cell service is still limited). The girls had their makeup and hair done there, and then they all came to our cabin on the lake for pictures and snacks before the wedding. It was perfect! One big concern was the remoteness of Fairy Stone for our many out of town guests, but with the wedding in the afternoon and daylight, it wasn’t an issue. It was like traveling into a fairytale—so magical and special. And a thousand thank yous to the staff at Fairy Stone for making everything flow so easily. Here are the vendors we used: Adell’s Catering (Rocky Mount) – absolutely amazing! She’s not only competitive in her pricing, but the food was super yummy and the staff were wonderful on the big day. Takes the Cake (Roanoke) – The cake was delivered and scrumptious! Richard Ratcliffe Photography – (Found on Thumbtack) Richard and Cindy were wonderful. They took so many pictures and really went above and behond to capture the entire day. DJ Willie H (Found on Thumbtack) – Will did a great job. He made sure the reception flowed well, and he kept the party going.

Beautiful area. Beach is clean, and well maintained ⛱️ Park employees were knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. There's plenty of kid friendly activities. 🧚‍♀️ Fairystones are not too difficult to find on the trail. I'd give this place three thumbs up, but I only have two thumbs 👍 👍 😉

This is another beautiful Virginia State Park, we've been here several times, have a great time every time! The boat rental here is ready and cheap, for a family you can get a rowboat for an hour for like $20, 4 hours cost me $46 the first time. We never last past an hour. My adult daughters are convinced they know how to paddle, so as we sit there spinning in circles and hollering at each other how to do it, others glide by, giving me pitying looks lol. 😁 It's a good upper body workout and it's fun. The beach is always clean and nice, big enough to always have space for you. The water was perfect temperature, no shocking coldness. The grounds here are gorgeous, tons of shady spots to set up under too. A big playground near the beach, and a couple of pavilions you can rent. The grill here has burgers, dogs, fries, etc, really yummy and not expensive. Ice cream too! The gift shop has a range of things, actual Park gifts to forgotten Beach Toy replacements, the beach stuff is pretty cheap, the cool park stuff, not so cheap. They have camping and cabins here, no hotel.

Fairy Stone State Park is such a beautiful and peaceful place. We really enjoyed our visit here. Right from the entrance, the rangers were incredibly friendly and helpful. One ranger in particular really went out of his way for us we told him we had young kids and weren’t planning to go into the lake that day, and he gave us great directions to the playground area instead. It was exactly what we needed. The playground was perfect for our kids and even had two picnic tables nearby, which worked out great since we packed a picnic lunch. It made everything so easy and relaxing. The area was well maintained and felt very safe and family friendly. There are lots of beautiful walking trails throughout the park. Even though we didn’t hike very far with the kids, the portions we did explore were really nice and scenic. My kids especially enjoyed the fairy stone hunt, they didn’t end up finding any, but they had a blast searching and exploring. Thankfully, the gift shop sells fairy stones, so they were excited to still bring some home as souvenirs.

Beautiful park. Didn’t expect a small cost to get in, but it was well worth it. Seems like it’s mostly for camping but has trails or hiking and a beach at the lake for warmer days.

Beautiful day hike, intriguing 🤔 story about the symmetrical fairy stones that are found rising up out of the ground at the base of the trees. Definitely recommend investigating this magical place.

We absolutely loved this place and will definitely return in the summer to check out the lake and cabins. The fairystones are fascinating. Great hiking trails, very peaceful.

Took my youngest son. I thought it was a huge area to find the stones. Ended up being a mile and trail. We found some but as we were starting up the trail some local lady came out with two walmart bags full of the stones. She said she sells them online and places. I watched two kids come out crying because they didn't find any. So here is my thought. If it is a place for tourists to come and spend money in your community maybe try not to leave with big bags full. Instead leave the easy ones for the kids and such. With that said my boys still enjoyed it. The ranger was awesome and gave lots of information. You will still enjoy your trip there
