Winter hiking destination for me almost the last 20 years. I've taken 7 or 8 laps up to the Fire Tower and down to the lakes since then with another lap just today. Quiet, good exercise plus abundant wildlife. As with any outdoor trail you have to watch your step at times but at least these paths are maintained. Enjoy some outdoor time then head to the nearby town of Ferdinand, get some grub. I recommend.

I like the trails, but after heavier rain, they get muddy and hard to pass due to streams (no bridges).

We had fun hiking around the lake on the yellow trail! We took our time, smelled the pines, listened to birds and tree frogs, watched the geese, ducks and turtles, and sat on the benches. Taking our time it was about an hour. It is steep in places.

Beautiful. Nice clean little park with primitive camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming, and fishing. Water is available near most campsites. RV dumpsite. Boat launch. Kayak launch. Lots of vault toilets. But we only found one shower spot at the beach area to wash off after swimming. No hot water. Peaceful, calm, never crowded.
