Fern Lake Campground & RV Park

Overview

Fern Lake Campground & RV Park offers a tranquil and restorative retreat just minutes away from the bustling river town of Paducah. This family-owned destination provides a peaceful atmosphere centered around a private 12-acre spring-fed lake, making it an ideal choice for travelers looking to escape the constant hum of highway noise. Whether you are passing through Western Kentucky for a single night or staying for an extended visit, the park balances modern convenience with a naturally scenic, wooded setting that feels worlds away from the city.

Location & Surroundings

Situated conveniently near the intersection of Interstate 24 and US-60, the park is remarkably easy to access for rigs of all sizes. Despite its proximity to major transit routes, the landscape is defined by mature hardwoods and rolling terrain that naturally buffers the campsites from the surrounding area. The location serves as a perfect home base for exploring the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers, providing a quiet sanctuary that remains close to local shopping and dining districts.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility caters to modern RV travelers with spacious full hookup sites that include 30 and 50-amp electrical service. Long, level pull-thru sites are available to accommodate large motorhomes and fifth wheels, often allowing guests to stay hitched for a quick overnight stop. On-site amenities include a laundry facility, clean climate-controlled bathhouses, and reliable Wi-Fi. The standout feature is the private fishing lake, where visitors can enjoy catch-and-release fishing in a serene environment without the requirement of a state fishing license.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Paducah is a designated UNESCO Creative City, and guests are only a short drive from the world-renowned National Quilt Museum and the impressive floodwall murals that depict the city's riverboat history. Exploring the LowerTown Arts District offers a unique glimpse into local galleries and specialized craftsmanship. For those seeking more rugged outdoor adventures, the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is a scenic drive away, offering miles of hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and extensive boating opportunities.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is a perfect match for full-time RVers and seasonal travelers who appreciate a quiet, well-maintained environment over a high-activity commercial resort. It is particularly well-suited for anglers and nature enthusiasts who enjoy the simple pleasure of a waterfront view. Because of the spacious site layouts and easy highway access, it also serves as a premier choice for big-rig operators looking for a stress-free stay while navigating the cross-country corridors of the Midwest.

Very nice quiet campground. It was perfect for our overnight stay. Staff was very couteous and helpful. Lots of thigs like gas, food etc. very nearby. Convenient location not far from interstate. Planning on staying there again on our return trip.

This park is in a beautiful setting with a private lake for sitting and watching the sunset. Staff was very helpful upon arrival and returning calls prior to arrival. The only reason keeping me from a full 5 stars is that the sites are rustic, with older hookups and close to each other. However, the water pressure was outstanding! Only about 15 minutes to downtown Paducah (you must go if you haven't - rich in history). I would definitely stay here again.

This depends on what you are looking for. We call these “RV Parking Lots”. It is a safe place to park overnight with full hookups. If that is what you need, then this is the place for you! Our site was too small to accommodate our 32” camper and truck, so we were told to move the truck elsewhere. We did not see a Guest Parking or anything like that, so we were just told to park next to the camper with the truck half in the driveway. We were safe and had electricity and sewer, so I’m grateful for that. But I did not enjoy it as an RV campground and we will not be back.

This campground is quiet, tree covered, and adequate as a base for exploring Paducah, a wonderful historic town along the Ohio River. There are a combination full hookup and electric/water only hookup sites. The sites are gravel and grass. The bathrooms are aged. The men’s room had 3 tiled showers; one had a broken hot water faucet that wouldn’t turn. The other 2 had lots of pooled water. The paper towels were empty the entire time we were there. So…adequate and if you prefer your own RV shower and toilet, you’ll be fine.

Very nice family owned campground that was perfect for a quick stop on our trip. Quiet and peaceful for our stay. Big bonus - good Mexican restaurant within walking distance, a 24 hour Waffle Hut, gas station, and a wine and spirits store. A great stop to recharge and refresh. Nice smallish lake to fish and a field area to walk the dogs. We would absolutely stay here again.
