Fishermans use to be a nice place to fish . Always caught BIG largemouth and on stocking days you'd leave with a limit and it was reasonably priced. Now you have people taking all the bass and over taking fish . Not worth my time or money any more .

It's a great place to fish. But they doesn't honor disable veterans or senior citizens, which says lot about the character of the ownership. As a disable Vietnam Veteran I love fishing and have fished there for many years. But the prices are to expensive now.

To start off, the staff were welcoming and super helpful. The reason why I’m putting 2 stars is because of the fee per person. Originally I read the reviews and knew they were charging around $20 per person so I had no issue with that. Now when I arrive, I park right before arriving to the gate because I had a phone call. When I finish the call one of the employees comes up to me next to my car and says if I need any help and I ask how much it is per person. He said $50 per person but I mistakenly heard $15, I repeated what he said back to him and he said no, it’s $50 per person. Then I go inside and when I get in the main office I ask the worker how much it is per person and she said $50. I even told her why so much and she said because of new management. I had my brother with me and he’s young, for him it was $35. In total I paid $85 for him and I. Im in awe for how much it was but mind you I only paid because I did it for his first time fishing experience. He’s 9 years old. $50 per person is crazy. Based off the price I won’t be coming back anytime soon. I don’t have any complains about the lakes, I’m not sure if they stocked the lakes with more fish but I didn’t catch anything and noticed other people fishing haven’t either.

Has great "potential". I would love to bump the stars after our NEXT visit? Right now, I think they just need to make money: hopefully to fix the buildings; which seem to be falling into disrepair. Pools are empty and dry, showers are dank, wear shower shoes and don't touch the walls but it show signs of work being done. Not everyone here gives you "welcoming vibes": the opposite might be true to a degree. Seems a little tribal but we're comfy and our hookups are reliable. Come see us!

My overall rating would otherwise be much higher except for the fact that the most important part of my experience was clouded with racial discrimination by the female manager (Irene) who was admittedly Mexican. I twice booked reservations at this retreat, the first was in early June 2025; that was for only 2 days. I didn't have sufficient time at that time to see all of the crap that the subsequent 2 week reservation allowed me to see, but during the second 2-week reservation, when I attempted to apply for a permanent residential site up top, I was given an application and told at that time by this woman that all I needed to qualify for a space in the residential area was my social security card, I have that, my ID or Driver's License, I have that too, and three consistent months of income that covers the amount for the rent, I have that in my monthly SSI payments. Never once was I told, for a dirt plot up top, that I also needed to make 3X the rent monthly. So when I returned a couple of days later with all of those required documents, and only after this woman reviewed what she asked for and I brought her, along with the application, did she suddenly change the rules of the game and say I needed to make at least 3X the rent monthly. I told her that my income, as I explained at the beginning and as she saw on paper, was fixed through Social Security. Yet, it more than covered the rent for the plot that she said was available. I then asked her if she could produce that 11th-hour requirement on paper, and I would believe it to be a legitimate requirement. She couldn't. produce it for a vacant dirt site, not for an apartment or house. I became frustrated and skeptical that her motives were racial. I began investigating her practices of allowing or disallowing blacks to apply for permanent residential housing at this place, and discovered that she had been screening blacks out while allowing whites, Hispanics, and others to apply and receive approval at will. This lady has a clear racial animus towards black Americans and uses her position as manager of Fisherman's Retreat to prevent Blacks from gaining access to the upper residential area at this Retreat. Given this experience, I do not believe that this woman is legally or constitutionally qualified for this role or job, and shouldn't be permitted to remain as its manager. Aside from the fact that what I said above was a terrible experience, I lost money in the washers and dryers the day before my departure when I went to wash and dry my dirty clothes. Several washing machines took my money and failed to complete the wash cycle, and the dryers failed to dry what did eventually get washed after inserting additional quarters, more than what the usual wash cycle calls for. This means she's aware of this broken equipment and how it's scamming customers out of money that they do not have to waste. Plus, fishing is a joke as well, because the three small lakes there admittedly haven't been refreshed with new fish, so the fishing is paltry at best. You'll be lucky if you catch a 3" Trout or Bass, to be completely honest. So only half a star is my rating at this point.
