Fishlake/Bowery Creek

Overview

Fishlake/Bowery Creek offers a refreshing escape within the high-alpine landscape of the Fishlake National Forest. Situated at an elevation of nearly 9,000 feet, this destination provides a cool respite from the southern Utah heat. The area is famous for its scenic mountain vistas and lush stands of aspen and conifer trees. RVers will find a peaceful atmosphere where the natural environment takes center stage, making it a premier choice for those seeking a rustic yet accessible outdoor experience.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away roughly 40 miles southeast of Richfield, the park sits near the shores of the iconic Fish Lake. The surroundings are defined by volcanic plateaus and deep forests that create a dramatic backdrop for camping. One of the most remarkable features of this area is the proximity to the Pando Aspen Grove, considered one of the world's largest and oldest living organisms. This proximity to unique biological wonders creates a sense of seclusion that is rare in the region.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is well-equipped for modern RV travelers while maintaining its forest charm. Many sites feature full hookups, including water, sewer, and electricity, which is a significant advantage for a mountain forest setting. Visitors have access to paved parking spurs, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. The facility also provides drinking water and flush toilets, ensuring comfort throughout your stay. The paved roads within the park make navigation manageable for various rig sizes.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with trophy trout fishing at Fish Lake being a major highlight for visitors. Boating, kayaking, and canoeing are popular ways to explore the water. For those who prefer land-based activities, the Lakeshore National Recreation Trail offers stunning views and bird-watching opportunities. Nearby, you can explore the Twin Creeks area or take a short drive to the various overlooks that provide panoramic views of the entire Fish Lake Basin.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for anglers and nature enthusiasts who prioritize access to world-class fishing and hiking. Because of its high elevation, it is a perfect summer destination for travelers looking to escape the triple-digit temperatures of the lower valleys. It suits RVers who appreciate a quiet, forest-service-style vibe but still desire the convenience of utility hookups. Families and photographers will also find the vibrant seasonal colors and wildlife sightings incredibly rewarding.

Dave and Carol, the campground host made our stay very enjoyable. The lake and Marina are right across the street. Campground is clean and quiet. Very pleasant stay, 5/5 stars.

Third time at Fish Lake, first time at this campground. Site 15 had a level and well-shaded spot for our tent. It wouldn't have accommodated our big family tent, but worked well for the small tent. The camp hosts, Carol and Dave, were friendly and we chatted several times during our stay. Restrooms were old but clean with flush toilets and a sink - the ladies' room had a mirror and the men's did not (typical). Not all sites are created equal, considering shade, views, and space for tents or trailers. We enjoyed the butterflies, hummingbirds, and a deer that wandered through. We were told the campground will be closed in 2027 for renovations.

A lovely, quiet, and well maintained campground. Our experience was enhanced by the welcoming and helpful host couple, Dave and Carol. They went out of their way to help us secure a site at another campground, as someone had our site reserved after our one night stay. We ended up at Doctor Creek, another great campground just down the road. May 2025.

Love this place... great fishing on the lake... killer views (spot 31)... campsites nicely spaced out. Potable water... no hook ups. Fire rings and restrooms. 1 to 2 bars of Verizon cell service. Lots of trails to hike.
