Fleming Meadows Rec Area

Overview

Fleming Meadows Rec Area is a premier outdoor destination situated along the extensive shoreline of Lake Don Pedro. As one of the most developed camping facilities in the region, it provides a diverse range of accommodations for modern travelers. The park is managed with a focus on recreational water sports and family-oriented vacations, offering a well-maintained environment where the rugged beauty of the California foothills meets the convenience of a full-service campground. It serves as a central hub for those looking to enjoy expansive lake views and a lively outdoor atmosphere.

Location & Surroundings

Located in La Grange, California, the park is nestled in the scenic Sierra Nevada foothills. The surrounding landscape is defined by golden rolling hills and oak woodlands that frame the deep blue waters of the Don Pedro Reservoir. This geographic transition zone provides a unique climate of warm, sun-drenched days and cool evening breezes. Its proximity to the Tuolumne River and various geological landmarks makes it a visually stunning basecamp for exploring the natural wonders of Central California.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is specifically designed to accommodate the needs of RV travelers, offering numerous full hookup sites that include water, sewer, and electricity. One of the standout features is the large swimming lagoon, which includes a sandy beach and a filtered water system, providing a safe alternative to open-lake swimming. Additionally, visitors have access to a multi-lane boat launch ramp, a fully stocked trading post for essential supplies, and hot shower facilities that add a touch of comfort to the rugged outdoor experience.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Activity at Fleming Meadows typically centers on the water, with boating and jet skiing being the primary draws for summer visitors. Anglers will find the reservoir stocked and ready for year-round fishing, particularly for bass, trout, and salmon. Beyond the park boundaries, the historic gold rush town of Coulterville is a short drive away, offering a glimpse into California’s pioneer past. For those willing to drive a bit further, the western entrance of Yosemite National Park is accessible for a memorable day trip.

Who This Park Is Best For

This recreation area is ideal for active families who appreciate a vibrant, social camping environment with plenty of activities for children. It is also a top-tier choice for boating enthusiasts who require easy water access and secure trailer parking. this is by far the most relaxing and rejuvenating place to escape for the weekend. the water is the perfect temp, it's big enough that you don't have to be right next to people, the boat rentals are reasonably priced and very nice and the crew is all very friendly. especially Eric teague.

Nice not overpopulated spot respectful people clean bathrooms with hot showers can ask for words if you're wanting to camp without being a pampered baby

A bit dusty but love the place. Don't like the parking rules. But the bathrooms and grounds are kept clean. The garbage trucks come by and keep that clean. The Lagoon was the place to be to beat the heat. Going back the same time next year! It was 15 of us this time next time, more!

Great launch ramp, only problem is people blocking ramp and docks because they either have no common sense, no respect for others or are just clueless. Wished they would watch the process from a distance until they understand the process.. It's really simple. Prep your boat before getting on or off the ramp. Load your boat with ice chests and supplies before entering the ramp. Loading boat and securing items for travel are NOT to be done on the ramp. Keep your boat, trailer and vehicle off the launch lanes until your trailer is ready to launch or retrieve ur boat from the water. 😲😲😲 All fish were successfully released back into the lake👍
