Geoff made me feel instantly welcome on the campsite. As a bicycle tourer it was the perfect spot to rest for the night, quiet, calm, clean. I really enjoyed the forest walking trail on site as well. Facilities were great, laundry works perfect. Overall, a really wonderful campsite - highly recommend to be fellow cyclists 🚲🚲

My daughter and I stayed at Forest Ridge Campgrounds for a weekend in August and really enjoyed our time there. The campground was quiet and peaceful, which made it easy to relax. Our site was very good, and everything was well kept. We also found everyone we met to be kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The facilities were clean, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we’d happily come back again!

We spent the weekend of 8/1-8/3at this beautiful campground. While we are new to camping in an RV, we found this place to exceed any and all of our expectations. The owners were both friendly and helpful as well as engaging. The amenities were plentiful and excellent. Be sure to read their brochure as we only stumbled upon some of the amenities in the final hours of our stay. Our fault of course. We had some serious mechanical issues with our Motorhome that required some significant coordination and assistance from the staff. Not only did they jump to our assistance but exceeded any possible expectations that one would have of a business. We really felt like family (and not the ones that attend family reunions, lol). We could not make any higher recommendations for Forest Ridge Campground. Di and Kev Jacques

This is a rather difficult review to make as it was such a bizarre situation. Upon arriving and going in the office to check in, the owner greeted me nicely enough but immediately started harping about the 5 mile an hour speed limit posted in the campground. I mis-understood at first and thought he was accusing me of going too fast towing my 5th wheel. Anyway, he then pulled out the regulations and went over each one line by line. I found this a bit irritating but let him do his thing. After almost 20 minutes, my wife came in the office to see if there was a problem. I explained that we were "just going over the rules". The owner let us know that there were cameras "everywhere". Security cameras are fine, but I got the feeling these were more to spy on the guests than to deter thieves. As for the campground itself, it is an okay campground but way over-priced for what it is. There is an above ground pool that seemed to be closed nearly the entire time of our 11 day stay. There is a small laundry mat, but since we have our own washer/dryer, we didn't use theirs. It seemed clean enough though. What I did find weird is apparently you need a reservation to use the laundry facility. The pull through site was mostly level consisting of overgrown gravel and dirt. It was also WAY too short for our 5th wheel and truck. We travel with two small dogs (dachshund and min pin). The owner made sure he had my cell phone number incase he had to contact me if our dogs were causing a disturbance. I assurred him our dogs are quiet and are well used to living in our RV. He then said to make sure we don't tie them up outside when we leave the campground!? I told him we would NEVER consider such a thing. He responded with "well, I've seen it all." Prior to staying at Forest Ridge campground, we stayed 14 days at Timberland Acres campground that is about 20 minutes closer to Acadia NP and Bar Harbor. The differences between the two campgrounds are night and day. Timberland has all of the amenities a campground resort could offer including a heated pool and an onsite pub that you could order steamed lobster to go at a rediculously low price! Timberland was vibrant with families enjoying the outdoors and activities, whereas Forest Ridge seemed like a ghost town with a few zombies occasionally creeping by. Just strange. In conclusion, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Forest Ridge campground. We felt like we were being watched at every move. The campground does not have an inviting atmosphere. The sites are adequate at best. They say they are pet friendly, but they are not. Pet tolerant would be a better description. We would have left early, but we would have had to forfeit our entire cost of the stay because of their ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS policy. There are just too many other campgrounds in the area to choose from than this one. Happy camping!

I would have given it 1 star, but it was clean and basically exactly as advertised - however, there is NEVER any reason to be rude and condescending towards your guests! As soon as we pulled in we could tell that we were going to be treated as second-class citizens. And that’s exactly what happened. I will say, the seasonal campers we met were very courteous and nice and carried on great conversations with us! I know this review will give them exactly what they want, but if you as the owners allow campers to pay good money to stay at your park, you should at least be gracious and not make your guests feel like they are unwanted. Per your response about watching the kids - we had a straight line of site to the kids in the pool. You kicked them out because you claimed one of the boys jumped out of the pool- to be clear, neither of the boys jumped out of the pool when you kicked them out. Regardless, courtesy is always a nice way to treat people - you should try it.

I am a local healthcare provider and reached out to ask permission to walk from the road to the Woodlawn Trails. My team and I like to walk on slow times or lunches, and asking permission was the right thing to do. Sadly, the answer was no. The owners weren't rude, but they stated that my daughter and I walking on our lunch hour would be too much risk and liability for them. I get it, but I also get there is a life after tourist season, and I was raised to believe that locals help locals. In our case, we would have traded off a day of trash patrol for walking access that would have saved us a drive. But ok. We'll drive. I wonder if Woodlawn is as picky about walkers, since the Dyers post "no trespassing signs" facing the Woodlawn trails, but use the Woodlawn trails as a selling point. Not very neighborly.... In any case, I won't recommend a business that is so afraid of liability that they deny a simple request from a local provider. We can walk elsewhere.

We stayed one week and were very pleased with the campground and owners. Very quiet and friendly. The site was level and had full hookups for 45' coach. Lots of room. The owners were knowledgeable about all of the surrounding areas and gave us the best advice on when the best times to tour the area. Located in the middle of some historic and beautiful country just a short drive to Bar Harbor.

Read the rules before you book this place and it will explain it all. The campground is clean and very quiet all hours of the day. The transient sights were mostly empty during our stay this past August. We stayed a week and saw a lot of campers coming in for just one night, even on Friday and Saturday wich is odd for mid summer in such a popular area. The owners were there but don't expect to be smiled at or spoken to. The staff that live on sight are similar. As others have said in previous reviews you feel like your watch at all times for rule breaking. It's like staying with super strict parents that want you to be seen but not heard and I'm 49 yrs old. We weren't here to party, we aren't those kind of people. We didn't feel comfortable sitting outside by our fire pit the hole time we were there. On the plus side it was clean, quiet and I felt safe walking around withy dogs. The 5 mile and hour rule did keep the dust down but my truck wanted to die at this speed

Not really happy with service at this campground. Mistake on our part we got there to early. Person at desk would not accommodate us when the site that we booked was empty. Decided to go to another campground who who accommodate us. So worth having to pay for another site. Campground was nicer and staff was much nicer and better service. Bar Harbor was much more accommodating and far more reasonable in price. Located closer to town and Acadia. Regardless of what check in time. I get the rules. Every other place I’ve been if space is available will accommodate.

We spent two nights at Forest Ridge. The campground is clean, small, and the people are exceptionally nice. They have a wealth of information of things to do and places to eat. They know the best places to go in Acadia NP, and were very helpful. The sites are level, clean and the hookups are in good working order. Try the blueberry pie at Union River Lobster Restaurant. It's delicious!! We enjoyed our stay very much.

Quiet, small. Equitable, fair rules strictly enforced. The owner and his wife are personable and nice. We have summered in other camps. This one is best for us.

This was one of the best campgrounds we have ever been to. Friendly and welcoming with great recommendations, clean and quiet, with magnificent amenities; beautiful nature walk, pool, cable for rainy days. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star was a simple text after we left blaming us for a missing peice and just charging my card automatically for a replacement without giving us an opportunity to see if maybe we accidentally took something that wasn't ours. After receiving the text, we pulled right over on the highway rest stop to check our gear, but only found our own (which was what we had to use at the site). It was a little bit of a let down to be charged so quickly without a courtesy call. Although it was a cheap charge, it's a shame that cheap charge couldn't have been footed by the profit of the 5 nights we stayed there instead of blaming and charging us for something that may have been missed in a previous site check.

I really am enjoying my time here at Forest ridge campground in Ellsworth Maine. I've had zero issues with power or water or sewer. The laundry is more than adequate the owners very thoughtful and accommodating. Hope to be back next year.
