This is a beautiful place to hike! There is so very nice scenery and a couple challenging sections were it was required to go under or over down trees. There is also plenty of up and down hills. The trails are marked well and we're easy to follow. The park has a nice little beach and playgrounds. We will be bringing our kayaks here to see how the paddling is. It also has a disk golf course. We will be coming back again for sure!

This was hubby and mines 1st time here. I was looking around on goggle on saw this place. So we thought we'd check it out for this week's hike. We did 3 trails. The 1st one had lots of down trees in the hiking path. It was a bit of a challenging hike but we really enjoyed it! The lake looks awesome! We're going to bring our kayaks out here in the spring.

This is a beautiful park with a few miles of trails. I will say, the Lakeview trail gets dicey at the lake itself. The trail is slanted and slippery if there are fallen leaves, with sharp drops into the lake. Be very careful and if you have limited mobility or kids, this may not be the best trail for you.

Went kayaking here and had a great time, the lake is clean and good for a days paddle. Terrain surrounding is steep and there are a lot of rocks surrounding it. I drove through the campgrounds (there are 5 separate areas) and sites were clean, shower houses also clean.

Remote park on a September Saturday. Went for a morning hike on Lakewood Trail. Photos attached. Pit toilets, plenty of parking, looks like a good lake for kayaking or canoeing, plenty of picnic areas, and it looks like a disc golf course.

Pretty good experience except the bathrooms. My wife cleaned up two different ones when we got here because they were disgusting, they stayed great until a worker came and only sprayed something around the bathroom and put a powder in the toilets, then all the bugs came back. The workers don’t seem to care about your experience in their bathrooms. If you do not wanna share the toilet with a thousand bugs, bring a portable toilet for sure!

Cool little waterfall you have to park and walk to. Beware of snakes. Ran across a copperhead there. Lots of trails with mushrooms and other wild things growing. Recommend to bring bug spray 😂

We REALLY REALLY ENJOYED our whole day here until it got dark out then heard back home to WV about 40mins or so of a drive but so worth it & it was nice quiet & clean plus pet friendly, places to camp grill out hike play grounds etc & it wasn't too packed either we'll def b going back, hopefully with some friends/ family again! ♡

We camped here on a Friday night in June and lots of sites were empty. Pros: It's truly the beautiful, wonderful, secluded outdoors experience tent campers like us are looking for. Cons: Only pit toilets near campsites, and lots of sites didn't really have any flat ground to pitch a tent on. We had to put ours on the asphalt. (I did see a proper bathhouse a good drive from our campsite, so there's probably showers and all there, but we didn't go in.)

Located close to the Ohio River I expected Forked Run State Park to be very scenic and I was not disappointed. The views around the lake are beautiful. Although it's a smaller state park it has all of the amenities of any other state park. Cell phone service is spotty at best.
