I had a wonderful time walking through history during the day and also enjoyed an entertaining and informative candle light walk through the ruins of Fort Churchill. I highly recommend a visit.

Fantastic piece of history located along the Carson River south of Silver Springs. The visitors center was recently reopened after a multi-year renovation. The attached photos & videos are from the reopening ceremony in October 2025. Also an excellent campground with shade, pit toilets, running water, tables, fire pits, and level sites.

I'd say this place is more for rv folks then tent campers. Only a few spots are private. Most are really close to each other. We went in August and hardly any water in the Carson river. Vault toilets that need to be emptied. Lots of flies almost, like a lot. They do have a good price on firewood. 20 a day for non nevada residents. With all the other camping places we wouldn't return .

Great place to walk around and learn some cool history. There's a very nice shaded picnic area and a really nice campground. We used the picnic area and plan to stay at the campground sometime. Recommend checking it out.

A wonderful place to visit. There's a dry camping area, picnicking area, a nature trail along the Carson River to Buckland Station, as well as the trail around the Fort ruins. They are working on the museum at the moment and adding seating along the ruins trail. Other work is being done to make it even better than it already is. I love seeing our $$ being used for what it was intended for.

A very neat place to visit and learn some Nevada history. The area is well maintained and there are nicely manicured paths to walk around the site on. There is also a picnic area with tables, grills and bottle filling stations. The museum was closed when I visited. The descriptive plaques give you a good sense of what it might have been like to be stationed at this fort. A nice place to be calm and reflect.

This location offers a serene and picturesque environment, making it an ideal spot for those seeking solitude and a chance to wander in peace. Informative signs are thoughtfully placed throughout, enhancing the experience by providing valuable insights about the area. The facilities are well-maintained, with clean bathrooms that add to the overall convenience. During the visit, staff were actively working on-site, tending to the grounds by clearing brush, which reflects the dedication to keeping the space tidy and inviting. While it may feel somewhat desolate, its quiet charm and well-kept amenities make it a pleasant destination for exploration.

Very large sites, many are quite private. Would be fantastic with a group of people. Short walk to the river, but the trail was flooded over (this 4 vs 5 stars) and needs drainage mitigation work. River is within walking distance. Not too deep and slow moving, but it’s October now, maybe half full be better flow in the spring and summer. Lots of trailers and generators at times blaring. Very dark and quiet at night, great star gazing here. Year round and 1 hour from Reno. Great roads and access. Didn’t have the chance to visit the ruins or museum this time. Day use area around the corner was underused and we had it mostly to ourselves while scoping out the greater area.
