We camped here early September and enjoyed it very much. The sites are all very well maintained. We drove through and looked at them all before picking our site. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. The slate quarry was neat and a new experience for us. The hiking was easy and not stressful in the least. The women's bathroom on upper-end of the campground was insanely clean for a state park campground. There was not an unpleasant smell, a single bug or stain on any of the fixtures. As an avid camper, I was shocked. I even took a hot shower (you'll need to get tokens from the ranger). The shower needs updating, but it was definitely clean. If we find ourselves in the area again, we'd 100% stay here again.

Hidden gem. Has three well-maintained easy hiking trails a mile or less. Staff is absolutely wonderful. Sites extremely clean. Grounds well maintained. Bathrooms are spotless! Not even a cobweb! It's obvious that staff takes great pride in their Park. Lots of sightseeing to be done within the area. Just a great spot overall! As always, with any campground, your experience will depend on who your neighbors are and how crowded it is when you were there.

THE PARK RANGER THE OLDER GENTMEN PARK RANGER CALLED POLICE ON ME ONE TIME FOR DOING SOCIAL MEDIA LIVE! THE LOCAL POLICE CAME AND WERE ASKING ME IF I WAS ON DRUGS OR ALCOHOL AND THAT I HAD TO LEAVE THE STATE PARK OR BE ARRESTED AT ONCE?? THE 2ND TIME THE PARK RANGER THREANTED TO CALL POLICE ON ME FOR PARKING IN THE SHADE AND DROVE ME RIGHT OFF THE PROPERTY? YOU NEED TO STOP TREATING LOCAL PAYING CITIZENS WHO PAY TAXES FOR THESE PARKS AND WHO DO NOT CONSUME ALCOHOL OR DRUGS TO STOP HARRASING THE PUBLIC AT ONCE.

It’s a well managed and clean camp ground. Tad smaller than usual but works ok for one big tent. Got more than usual noisy after quiet time for one night. Close to the town and has access to groceries if you need to. There are 3 trails with one ending in a swimming hole (stream)

This was our first time staying here, on our way home from Acadia NP in an RV. We were in site 1 and had no issues. The staff was welcoming, the campsite was clean and flat & fit our 27' RV. The bathrooms were typical campground bathrooms; except this campground uses tokens instead of quarters. A 50 cent token gets you 5 minutes of showering (buy tokens at the checkin station). The showers get HOT (thankfully!) with great water pressure. We enjoyed the slate quarry and sunrise trail. Unfortunately the mosquitoes were bad this time of year (June), but it's nothing the park can change. We would definitely come back again!
