Bring a flashlight if you want to walk through the old military batteries. I captured three different sky photos. I considered the bathroom clean as state park bathrooms can get. A lot of people were riding electric scooters around. It seemed like a pretty quiet state park.

Really liked the view from our campsite. Very nice wide trails all over the park, a lot of them with great views. Nice boat ramp. Lots of nice beach. Flush toilets and running water. Hot shower. Only 4 stars because campground, at least the upper part, has a real mouse problem. They were running all around our site once the sun went down. Make sure to keep your food locked up good.

Camping and other sites are very close together. It's easy to get down the beach for privacy and great sand, especially for Washington. If you are camping with a tent you'll have to climb down and up about three flights of stairs to access the beach. Everywhere has great views of the sunsets. The RV sites down on the lower camping area is completely flat on a large open field. There is parking there for the general public with state discovery passes. A cute spot to order food is right there by parking spaces, which is run by a couple of older folks. There's ice cream but be prepared to wait about a half hour for a hot dog or hamburger. There is a small park for younger children right next to it and great well spread out picnic tables. It's usually windy enough for flying a kite. There are also well kept bathrooms right there as well as on the upper campground where tent camping is found. There is even a shower in those bathrooms. Overall a friendly campground with very closely neighbored tent and RV spots. It's not worth a long drive for a single overnight trip or a day out but if you're within an hour and a half or so I would go again.

Amazing place to visit for the day or your camping adventure. Definitely keep your valuables secured as the low-life local thieves are always keeping an eye out at the camp sites and parking areas. The campers beside our campsite had their boat and trailer stolen near the boat ramp at the end of July, 2025.

Fort Flagler is one of the three forts in the Triangle of Fire - the Puget Sound harbor defense the US built that was supposed to protect the mainland from any invasion by sea. My kid has become a keen reader of military history in the PNW and so he wanted to explore the three forts. Fort Flagler he considers as one of the best to explore for the delightful number of wildlife spotted. We saw a sea otter up close preening itself on top of a boulder, various birds, deers young and old, and sea creatures he noted was like visiting the aquarium (see pics and video attached). It's a bit of drive and require packing provisions for a day trip as there are no grocery stores or restaurants nearby. As with any park anywhere, pack out your trash and food. Be kind to nature!
