As a solo female hiker felt very safe here, even on the more isolated trails. I took the five mile hike (around the lake, up to one of the overlooks, and winding down the Gahuti trail and finishing at the big rock nature walk.) colors were beautiful, great place to reflect and challenge yourself just a bit (some steep inclines). Checked out the stone wall and tower as well - fascinating lore and the most breathtaking view.

We have not camped here but we did drive through the park to check it out. Definitely going back to camp. The Fall foliage was beautiful even though it wasn't peak. Lots of places to grill and picnic. Be Bear Aware though. We did not see a bear but the signs are posted and all of the trash cans are bear proof. Nice little lake to fish in and also a beach to swim in the warmer months.

Went on a morning with cloud cover at that elevation. We still really enjoyed ourselves. Walked the tower trail, stone wall, and overlook trail. Missed the view at the overlook because of the cloud cover. Will be back to see it! The lake was really pretty too.

Camped here 2 nights. We chose site 31. Large and level and beside bath house and bear safe garbage cans. We are in a roof top tent so being close to the restroom and showers is always a plus. Also liked the fact they had a sink there to clean up our dishes. Lots of signs and warnings for bear but we didn’t see any. Was nice to have garbage cans next to us to dispose of anything food related. Bath house also had a washer/dryer and I did use those also. I think $3.25 each and quarters only. No change machine so bring your quuarters. Both machines were excellent. Brought our e-bikes and enjoyed riding the trails and over to the fire tower/overlook. When we were there I would say the campground was maybe 20% capacity. It was perfect. Quiet and not many people. Camp store sells wood/ice and has the cutest apparel! Would definitely camp here again!

The maps were extremely helpful with difficulty levels on the back. Made it a great place to go with all ages from 9-74 (in our group). It was absolutely beautiful and the public restrooms were cleaner than in any other state park I've been to. They had a lovely family friendly area where you could go swimming with a nice easy hiking trail not to mention it's only a $5 fee per car! Just look at these views!

Amazing spot for a view! The overlooks are great. The hikes are moderate and fun. The fire tower is neat to see even if you can't go up it. Not too busy during the week. State Park parking is just $5! Really fun spot to bring a lunch.

This is a beautiful, incredible state park that is so worth the trek (driving and walking wise). There are a couple different lookout spots you'll want to check out, and at the security hut they give you a map so you know where to go. All of the workers were so friendly and helpful here. The hike at the very top was perfect- about a mile or so, the scenic lookout is about halfway through so you can take a break if you need. There's a good amount of elevation to get your heartbeat going but then it calms down after awhile. At the outlook, it would be easy to sit and enjoy the few for a long time. It's stunning. You can also take a fork in the path to visit the Fort that's here (thus named Fort Mountain). There are some info signs explaining the mysterious origins of the fort and it's pretty interesting. We were disappointed not to see any bears, I know it’s such a tourist thing to say but it’s true!

My family and I have been visiting this park annually for about 15 years, and we absolutely love it. The cabins were renovated a few years ago and are both clean and comfortable. We typically visit in the winter and highly recommend coming during this time since it’s less crowded. The park offers dog-friendly and handicap-accessible cabins, making it a great option for all visitors. We’ve brought our elderly grandmother multiple times and stayed in the accessible cabins, which have been perfect for her needs. There’s also a fully accessible trail that is flat, paved, and features a stunning overlook—you can even drive right up to the trailhead. For those who love hiking, the park has excellent trails for all skill levels. I don’t leave reviews often, but this place truly deserves it!

I visited Fort Mountain State Park this past Saturday, and it was absolutely stunning, even with the heavy fog that blanketed the area. Despite the mist, the park exuded a magical, peaceful atmosphere. The trails were incredible, offering a variety of landscapes and breathtaking views. Being surrounded by nature brought a deep sense of tranquility. If you’re looking for a quiet escape, this park is a perfect choice. Whether you're hiking, exploring, or just soaking in the beauty around you, it's a refreshing retreat from the daily hustle. Truly a gem for nature lovers!

Hosted my sisters baby shower there recently. The cabins were super spacious and clean. Loved that they had a stocked kitchen with pans, cooking utensils and cutlery. The park itself is beautiful and well maintained and the staff is incredibly friendly. Highly recommend
