We came to Fort Trodd November 1, 2024. I started working on this review in December of 2024, I have kept adding and adding to it as we would go or as something happened. We loved our winter there, it was perfect. Well when we first came there we were told that when the bathrooms became unlocked in the Spring that we and the Californians were also told that we would all have to pay to use the showers and bathrooms. We expected to pay for the laundry facility but the showers during the open season, we did not expect. We were finally told by a fellow camper, when the open season was nearly over and it was really too late, that our $750 a month pays for the shower room, that we DO NOT HAVE TO PAY EXTRA! When we started using the shower room, Tim went past our very first time and was shaking his head at us. This happened regularly, we told another camping couple about it but I am not sure they even believed the extent of it until Tim and his wife went past us one day while they were visiting us and there was Tim shaking his head as us again. Then the couple seen for themselves that we were in fact telling the truth. This camper confronted Tim and was given an excuse/lie as to of why he did it. We were told that ALL outsiders get told that they have to pay to shower, even though it is NOT apart of any of the actual Fort Trodd rules and was made up by the old women in the office. That was just the beginning of our, "find someplace else". Now I did get into a little trouble by coming into the campground after drinking a little, I do not drink, so it does not take much, and I was speeding, my truck speedometer was set on kmph instead of mph. I took my yelling at, even though it was my first and ONLY offense at Fort Trodd. We started doing lawn care for Fort Trodd, against my better judgement. We only charged them $2.00 per lot to mow and weedeat, very cheap, and it ended up hurting us really badly and we were screwed royally with that. The first month getting our pay was like pulling teeth. Then Rod tried saying we had to blow each lot too when we did NOT put a bid in for blowing. They expected that for free. So back to getting our pay, if it weren't for the owner, we would have mowed for them and paid $1125 a month cash to live there. Even though rent was only $750 for a WHOLE month. Heck Rod was ready to fire us as soon as we refused to pay the $1125. But thank goodness Todd, the owner, knows how to do simple 1st grade math. Rod Sharrow and the old woman in the office has no clue how to do simple 1st grade addition and subtraction. They had it all messed up. Tried telling us we owed them $1125 when rent is only $750 a month there! The old woman said she "feels" our electric bill was too low, even though it went by a number at each lot (electric meter at each lot) and the next month our electric bill went waaaaaaay up immediately after she said she "felt" our electric bill was too low. So we were told, by Rod, that we were not to mow within an inch of the campers personal belongings, that the campers are responsible for their personal property to be mowed/weed eat around. It is also stated in the actual rules paper you get when you come to Fort Trodd. So a couple of months later we ended up clearing 2 days worth of clients to make Fort Trodd our top client, we gave them Monday's and Thursday's, since it kept raining on Thursdays. This way we could make sure the grass was mowed once weekly. We told Rod Sharrow we were getting rid of 2 whole days worth of people on a Thursday and he never said a single word. Then after removing the 15 clients off our list, 10 from Mondays and 5 from Thursdays, which was a lot of money per month we were losing, $1015 per WEEK we lost! We were told 4 days later, that Monday morning when WE WENT TO START MOWING that we were no longer needed. He waited until we got rid of a lot of our income and were about to start mowing that morning before he came and told us we were not to mow anymore. Jason just said "okay sir" and we put our trailer up and didnt mow there any more.

Great campground! We’ve made some amazing friends over the years here! Fishing is fun. There’s some great events. Food trucks, concerts, kayaking. paddle boarding, boating, beach days, trails for exploring. Honestly the best campground I’ve experienced in my 20+ years of camping! The people are the best and management is super friendly and helpful!

We have been at this campground for 6 seasons and the first few were amazing! We loved our summer “home” with an absolutely beautiful view right on the lake. Unfortunately, the last couple of seasons were ruined by inconsiderate neighbors who turned this beautiful, relaxing place into their own private nightclub every Friday and Saturday nights. In 40 years of camping we have never encountered a campground that allowed groups to put up bright lights and play loud music on DJ speakers for hours on end just as long as it’s shut down by 11pm. It’s definitely not an environment for children or anyone who wants to relax after a long week at work. Fort Trodd used to be a very family friendly place with lots of fun activities for the kiddos but that has changed over the past couple of years as well. Management assured us that they would be handling these issues at the beginning of this past season but instead let it escalate. What a shame we have to give up such a beautiful site but we are not willing to waste our money. Bye Bye Fort Trodd.

This is the first time I've stayed in a campground for an extended time, and so far I love it. The people, both staff and campers, are friendly and respectful. Everything is very clean and well maintained. There is a very nice pond for swimming with an immaculate sandy beach area, along with several other amenities for sports activities. There is a hiking/bicycle trail on the property, and it connects to the Wahdams to Avoca trail. On the weekends, there are food vendors and always some sort of activities or themed events.

We had a lovely time camping. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the other campers have created a warm and inviting community. We're looking forward to next time.

They won't let you rent a site for one night unless you are friends or family of seasonal campers. I will definitely be telling all my friends not to go to Fort Trodd for any camping. I have a wedding in the area and there are no hotel rooms left so we were resorting to camping. Could have had 15 more sites rented. Oh well. Guess they don't want business.
