France Park

Overview

France Park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and outdoor recreation set within the heart of Cass County, Indiana. Once an active stone quarry, the site has been transformed into a diverse county park that appeals to those seeking a mix of adventure and relaxation. With its stunning turquoise waters and lush greenery, it provides a refreshing and scenic escape from the typical highway-side RV stop.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just west of Logansport, Indiana, the park is defined by its dramatic geological features and dense woodlands. The centerpiece is the abandoned limestone quarry, now filled with clear spring water, which creates a striking contrast against the surrounding Indiana forest. The area is intersected by miles of scenic trails that wind through hardwood trees, offering a quiet, shaded environment that feels secluded while remaining close to local conveniences.

Amenities & Park Features

The RV facilities at France Park cater to both modern and primitive camping preferences. Visitors can enjoy well-maintained hookup sites designed to accommodate various rig sizes, along with convenient access to bathhouses and dump stations. Beyond the campsites, the park is renowned for its scuba diving opportunities in the deep quarry and its challenging 18-hole disc golf course. A designated swimming beach and several large picnic shelters make it a comfortable base for longer stays.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Active travelers will find plenty of activities on-site, including fishing in the well-stocked Elzbeck Lake or admiring the beautiful Kenneth Cascade waterfall. For those venturing outside the park boundaries, the nearby city of Logansport offers a charming historic downtown district and the famous Dentzel Carousel, which is a National Historic Landmark. The proximity to the Wabash and Eel Rivers also provides additional opportunities for kayaking and exploring the scenic Indiana riverfront trails.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal choice for active families and nature enthusiasts who prefer a rustic, community-focused environment over a commercial resort. Because of its unique diving, fishing, and swimming features, it is particularly popular with weekend warriors and outdoor adventurers looking for a destination with variety. It serves as a peaceful retreat for travelers who enjoy hiking and water-based activities while staying in a tranquil, wooded setting.

Really nice park & campground! Upper shower house has sulfur water, bad!! Could use an updating. Peew! Loved the swim, firewood is $20 for a large tote, but they delivered it to our campsite! Disc golf was good, bike ride as nice!

Lovely. I really enjoyed my experience at France Park... Camping, biking, hiking, and Scuba Diving!!! I also really enjoyed the atmospheric music and personality of the place. It is a bit of a drive, but I will certainly be back.

Clean facilities, good hiking trails and beach. I suggest going on a weekday for some quiet, and weekends for the kids to make friends at the beach. Bring bug spray for the trails and an umbrella/sand tent for the beach.

the hiking is my favorite part of this place, there are dozens of trails around the park, but there are also seemingly endless little trails between them and everything's interconnected and fun to explore. personally my downsides are 1) it's relatively expensive to get in at $10 per person, and, 2) my god, they need a rule about loud music. when i went, there was a group that was playing music so loud you could hear the bass from the other side of the park and it really takes you out of the immersion of the otherwise pretty nature

Beautiful park with large trails and plentiful activities. The quarry is stunning and probably my favorite scenic view across the many the park offers.
