A beautiful, well maintained, bayou-front State Park with many amenities. You will find a friendly, informative person greeting you as you come into the park. Straight ahead is the bayou-front campground with 30/50 amp electrical service, water, and a dump station. The campsites are spacious with foliage between for privacy. The bath house is newly refurbished, clean, and beautiful. Inside the campground is access to two different hiking trails and Puddin Head stream for fresh water fishing. In the day use area to your left, there are kayak/SUP self-service rentals right at the waters edge. Nearby is an outdoor shower and a water bowl for your furry friends. Further along you will find a wonderful playground, a pavilion complete with grills, and picnic tables scattered along the waterfront. At several points you will find access to the bayou for swimming/wading and saltwater fishing. The first bathroom is across from the playground. There’s a water bottle filling station and even a water bowl for your pet. Next to this bathhouse is a .75 mile interpretive trail. Continuing down the road in the day use area you will find another pavilion, many more picnic tables, another bathroom, and a double wide, deep water boat ramp. There’s ample parking for your vehicle and trailer.

A beautiful state park on the bay. It was clean, convenient, with ample parking and restrooms. Friendly staff and a nice boat launch ramp. Nice nature trail with plenty of information plaques. It has children's playground, you can rent kayaks and canoes. A great place to enjoy the day for only $5.

My first exploration of this park since moving to this area. Really new bathroom buildings, great views, sandy shores, nice swimming areas, & sweet little trails for some barefoot hiking. My new quick fix to get out of the rat race, and out of my head, and get grounded.

This is my favorite place to come set up a chair and read before work or bring my niece to explore nature. I always look forward to chatting with the rangers/volunteers because they are so kind, every time! (If you live in Florida and have littles, ask them about the Junior Ranger program) Nature trails are clear of debris and easy to spot. Bathrooms are always clean! The boat launch is far enough away that you don’t have to worry about kids playing in the water near it. Stairs to water access are sturdy! We love looking at the butterfly board Every time we visit! Bonus points for having a water bottle refill station!

One of my most favorite parks! We have stayed here multiple times. Wonderful, clean campground. Most, if not all, campsites are shaded. Campground seems small and charming, and that's what we love about it. We stay here when we are visiting the beaches in Destin. We camp here and then visit the sister park for the beach. Showers/bathrooms are clean. Staff is great. Highly recommended!

This was pleasant little surprise. I needed somewhere to relax a bit from a busy day. Brand new to the area I went here to take some time to destress. My thoughts: Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park is a beautiful and peaceful destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The park offers scenic views, hiking trails, and opportunities for fishing and kayaking in Rocky Bayou. Its well-maintained campgrounds provide a great spot for a relaxing getaway. The park is quiet, family-friendly, and perfect for nature lovers looking to explore the Florida panhandle. It was especially beautiful with some of the color changes getting into winter time. Bonus: they have clean bathrooms!

We camped at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park the 3rd week of March in our Class C Motorhome for 5 nights. We were camping with our grandson and he had a blast hiking the trails over and over, watching beavers build their dam at night, seeing gators for the first time as well as fireflies for the first time. The park was nicely laid out with a great buffer of privacy between the sites. The sites were spacious and everything was clean. Our grandson especially enjoy walking to the ranger station, checking out the cool nature display they have in there and asking questions, and was so happy to get a sticker! This was a really peaceful and enjoyable park, wish we could have kayaked, but it was actually quite chilly while we were there. We would return if in the area again.

This park is great! The staff is very helpful and the park is well maintained. The trails are short and have lots to look at. The kayak rental was very easy and the bay is fun to explore. I didn't use the campsites, but they look clean and well shaded. They have places to hook a hammock. Overall worth the trip from destin if you are tired of the beach
