This is the view out our back camper window. Plenty of campsites available in mixed deciduous and pine forest. Very quiet and beautiful. Sites have (old) picnic tables, grills, and fire rings.

Nice cabins, friendly staff and 2 disc golf courses.

The website advertises a 3 mile hiking trail so I decided to stop by on my way to Memphis for a hike. Bad decision. Hard to find the trailhead to start. Once you get on the trail, it is your guess which way it goes. No blaze markers, tall grass, several dead trees crossing the path. I was only able to navigate the trail because it was identified on my phone GPS.. I may have been the first person to actually hike this trail in at least a year. If the state cannot afford to keep up the trail, they should remove it from their website.

We were disgusted. First the state park wasn't gated. Anyone could drive in without any questions. No one at the entrance. Chico St Park in Louisiana, you can't get in or out after 10:00p and gate is locked. There was no security whatsoever. There wasn't the first security light throughout the RV park. We got there at 8:30pm and it was lining driving through the wilderness and on your own at your own risk and it was pitch black. Like it was blind leading the blind. Some one could have killed. My wife had to go to ER the night before about her heart and I tried to move the date up one day but had to go through the state park itself which was like the act of Congress but never got a hold of them. The lady at the Resv said she couldn't change the day. Her boss said we would have to be there by 11:00 am the next day or would be considered a no show and would be charged full price. Well, we got things together quickly and drove 6hra and got to the park and started driving through and my wife said I'm not staying here after finally got hold of s man and directed us through the park and like to have never found the spot. We seen a couple trailers but that was it but was quite empty. An animal could have come out and killed us and the park wouldn't know it My life is worth more than $85.00 We left the park and kept on driving North and pulled into a rest area South of Memphisa and slept in the truck for about 6hrs and drove the rest of the way to Clarksville Tennessee. We felt safer in the truck than we would have felt in the park. This park may be ok but our experience with them puts a bad taste in our mouths.

Pretty, quaint state park with lake access. Doesn't seem to have a camp store with park rangers like big state parks have, but it does have frisbee disc golf and mini golf. Older playground, but the kids absolutely loved it! If it rains come prepared with a lot of bug spray because the gnats are terrible and will swarm all over your, camping equipment, RV, tent, and your things!! But the gnats won't stop us from coming back! Looking forward to our next visit!!! *There might be some circular weird looking "moss" creatures and those are safe to be around. They actually help to filter out the water. I posted a picture so don't be alarmed.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Oct 2023 full hook-ups $37.50 a night. Better rates for longer term rentals.. but this place fills up fast in the height of the season. Reservations recommended.. They take Reservations two years ahead! We took a chance in late October and got lucky! THERE ARE CABINS TOO. Lovely setting...plenty of trees..hard pads to park. Picnic tables. Fire pits and grills. The lake is INCREDIBLE..white deer wander around at dusk WE WILL BE BACK
