This was a wonderful spot for an early August getaway. Weather was perfect, much cooler I the mountains but not chilly. Water and scenery was beautiful. Park facilities are well cared for. We hit up the beach which was amazing, plus there is access outside the public area if you want to avoid other people completely. Lake itself not that crowded with boats etc. We will definitly visit again.

U couldn't ask for anything more from a campground. I wish I could go more often. We take the whole family once a year and we have a big family 😂 They always accommodate.

We tent camp at Bolar Mountain every summer, sometimes several times during the summer. It is one of our favorite places. They are only reservations, now. The pros are beautiful water to kayak, swim, and fish and most sites are wooded and spacious. The cons...the weekends can be loud with partiers and the hosts the past year or two have been wore out, shorthanded and unable to keep up with things. The last time we were there the local police did make a drive through at night once or twice but that was the first time we experienced any type of "management" in the campground. The bath houses in loop 1 have had power issues the past couple times we went. But despite all that, if you go during the week it is usually much quieter. Plan to take everything you need. For the first time, we had a hard time getting ice last year. Couldnt find anyone to open store and host was too busy to get it for us.

Worst year in 8 years of camping here. Unruly bunch on several campsites who were together. Partied hard with lots of alcohol. No sleep in 2 nights. Sheriff was called who basically did nothing. Next morning manager came down and told them if he heard anything from them after 10 pm they would be kicked out. 5 campsites left without refunds including myself. The management left campground 3 without a camphost on a holiday weekend putting campers at risk. No rules are enforced.

This is my new favorite camp site. I cant say enough about the place. The sites are well maintained and spacious. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. The scenery looks like heaven. The lake is a great place to hike and swim right from your site(if it's a site on the water). I cant wait to go back.
