Very well maintained and good for picnic or bbq. The lake is clean and there’s an island in the middle. Pretty colorful in Fall.

Great (9mile) hike around the entire area. Great sized camping spots easily fits 2 tents and could accommodate a 3rd. The lake is clean and beautiful. No wood or ice is sold on site but they have sellers a short 15 minute drive away and the bundles are big and cheap. It's a great drive out and in with lots of overlooks. I only went here because my favorite spot was booked up and I'm happy I got to see it first hand. If you hike out to the falls pack food and water. It's an expert hike. You can drive to the nearby parking spots to cut hikes in half for beginners. I will definitely be comming back. As too bee expected you are in the mountains so plan accordingly. Limited cell service. If you hike on the trails you get spotty service which is good considering you're in THE WILDERNESS. Well done rangers and staff at Sheranado Lake.

Absolutely beautiful scenic RV camp site, full hook-ups, large firepit, bear proof food storage box, picnic table, large distance between RV sites and very nice egg pebble gravel, which was awesome after raining you don't track mud into your RV. This was one of the most pristine condition RV camp sites I have stayed at. The bathrooms were quite clean and there was a shower. Lots of grassy areas for dogs and extremely dog friendly. We stayed over nght in "C-17, it was a great location, it would be a great RV site for a vacation. The camp ground volunteer host was terrific. The only reason I didnt provide 5 stars is the entire area was a dead zone for any communication. NO CELL SERVICE, and too many trees for the Starlink internet to work. Beautiful drive getting there!

Arrived 6/16 and had the pleasure of staying at A09. The pad was clean, spacious, and super close to the bathouse. My dad and I had a great 3 days and looking forward to returning. Thank you Sherando Lake!

Very good time. However you cannot rent kayaks here and the bathrooms do not have soap. We have camped all over and never had to worry about no soap

Gorgeous location. We went to enjoy lake and fish. The lake is stocked with trout with no hook requirements. Admission for the day was 8 dollars. There is also a beach and swimming area, boating, picnic area, hiking, and campgrounds. Gift shop is on grounds, however was not open when we went

Great camping spot - will definitely be coming back. The hosts are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area and there are many hikes of varying lengths to suit anyone visiting. Our doggies had a great time here and we did too!

The lake and beach area are gorgeous. There might not be a more scenic lake in Virginia. BUT, a sour camp attendant in the A Loop seemed to want to ruin the camping experience. Kept mentioning 'getting the Law involved' after asking us once to move cars off of the curb and to a parking lot. Fine, they should be moved, but he went on and on about calling the Law, said not to stare at him, started going on about how it was on 'this paper' that we were supposed to park elsewhere despite giving no time for us to move the cars before droning on (I didn't get said paper and there were no signs along the road). So my group assumed that was an isolated incident, until 10:00 sharp when he came by to say we needed to be quiet after 10 or the Law might get involved. We were not loud or rowdy at all, and I'm not just saying that. He kept saying "if you get rowdy, the Law gets involved". I finally had enough of him and corrected him that it was actually 10:01, and that us simple cityfolk didn't much know what the Law was. Is that the same as cops? He didn't know what to do with that and seemed to malfunction. Mentioned the Law and being rowdy again and walked away. It's hard to describe this guy. The type of guy you know is verbally abusive to people, and who enjoys making people uncomfortable. He's clearly never had a position of authority in his life, and camp attendant to him is like being handed a sceptre. He should not be overseeing campers.
