I’ve stayed here two years straight for two weeks at a time. The first year the hot showers were broken 50% of the time. The second year 100% of the time with a sign saying they’re waiting on parts. Sign looked old so doubt that’s true. Other than that it’s a great place just don’t come expecting the hot showers. ***Update*** The day after posting this they closed the bathrooms completely. The decision came from the regional supervisor and only he can reopen them. These bathrooms are supposed to be open year round but were closed because the showers don’t have hot water. Right after he chose to close the bathrooms he took vacation for the rest of the week. …. How convenient for him.. Now instead of a normal bathroom you have to use a glorified out house that has no power and a spider infestation… who doesn’t love relieving themselves over mounds of other peoples feces??

Just passing through for 2 nights but as usual our stay at a state park was just fine. We were right next to the lake, 40ftr w toad. Quiet, clean, 50 amp, good water pressure. Woman in the office was great, God bless her and God Bless America!!!

Great place for an autumn camping trip. We always enjoy the Ghostly stories and hay rack rides. Nice camp spots. The shower house could use a big cleaning on the outside. Cobwebs totally engulfed the outside light and corners of the entrance. Just needs a good power wash.

This is a big, beautiful lake where I have enjoyed swimming, camping, BBQ's, and spending time with friends and family...many memories. However, this last week, there was one small beach shared with a large amount of campers, and that was it. Everything else was overgrown with dead brush and no way to get to the water. Drove around the lake for 45 minutes before finally going back to the one beach to get in the water...where is the maintenance??

Staff was very nice, the camp host was very sweet and helpful. Somw shower houses were down due to burst plumbing after the winter, but its a nice lake to camp, hike, and fish!

Tried to use the kiosk to get a day use and camping permit after hours. No matter what you select, the $25 year pass is what you get. Says press cancel, but no cancel button. Ended up with two one year passes. Office still closed at 9 am next day when we left. Called next day and were told too bad, you used the kiosk. Nothing they can do. You are out of luck. We will dispute the 2nd ctedit card charge.

Stayed over night in a primitive spot (pitched my 2 person tent) right by the lake recently on a bike trip on my way back home from WY). Quiet, peaceful and largely uneventful stay. It was a little tough to find a spot and the self pay kiosk and provided maps were not much help. The view of the lake before drifting off to sleep and when I got up was breath taking.

Hosted a large archery event & booked one of the cabins. I’ve got to say that Scott & the KDWP team at Glen Elder are top notch! So helpful and accommodating. We wanted to host this event & involve youth & they didn’t hesitate at all. We are very fortunate to have such awesome state parks in Kansas!

Public park specializing in camping, boating, hunting, and fishing. I spent a week in a self-service cabin with a full kitchen and bathroom. Quiet, with plenty of room for exploration and gallavanting around. No structural playground or other space for children. Restrictions on places for swimming. The website advertised an old church that doubles as a historic museum, but we found it to be closed due to structural damage. Ideal place for peace and solitude: it's so close to Highway 24 that you can see and hear traffic, but you wouldn't know it was there unless you went looking for it deliberately. Vehicle pass required for admission, available to purchase onsite.
