The park is situated along the historic Red Mountain ridge, which serves as a landmark for the region's industrial heritage. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by lush forest landscapes that feel miles away from the city, despite being conveniently located near major Birmingham transit routes. While I feel they could use more signage to keep you on the correct trail, we did end up getting to our destination. We went on a warm Saturday afternoon and saw few people once we got 10 minutes from the parking lot. I hope to go back and try more trails.
