Grand Beach Campground
Overview
Grand Beach Campground is a premier summer destination located within Grand Beach Provincial Park on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg. Known for its stunning white sand beaches and massive dunes, it provides a quintessential Manitoba beach experience for RVers. The park is part of a protected area that preserves one of the best beaches in North America, offering a blend of relaxation and outdoor adventure. It is a seasonal park that captures the lively spirit of a prairie summer through its vibrant natural landscapes.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Grand Marais, MB, the park is approximately an hour drive north of Winnipeg. The campground is nestled among a mix of jack pine and poplar trees, providing a natural canopy for many sites. The most striking feature of the surrounding landscape is the Ancient Lake Agassiz shoreline, which created the soft sand and towering dunes that define the area. The proximity to the massive freshwater sea of Lake Winnipeg creates a coastal atmosphere in the heart of Canada.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground offers over 300 sites, including electrical-only hookups and basic non-electrical options. While it lacks full sewer hookups at individual sites, a convenient sani-dump station is available for RVers. Travelers have access to modern washrooms and shower facilities, ensuring comfort during their stay. The park also features a grocery store and restaurant nearby in the village, along with on-site playgrounds and fire pits for evening gatherings under the stars.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The main draw is the West Beach, a three-kilometer stretch of sand perfect for sunbathing and swimming. Hikers can explore the Ancient Beach Trail, which offers insights into the geological history of the region. For those interested in local culture, the Boardwalk provides a scenic stroll with food vendors and shops. Birdwatchers will appreciate the diverse species found in the nearby lagoons and marshes, making it a well-rounded destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for families and beach enthusiasts looking for a traditional summer vacation. Because of the limited full hookups, it suits RVers who are comfortable with partial services in exchange for a world-class natural setting. It is also a fantastic choice for nature photographers and hikers who want to explore unique sand dune ecosystems. If you enjoy a vibrant, social atmosphere near the water, this is the perfect Manitoba destination for your next road trip.

Really nice private sites. Great beach. Dog friendly beach. Only drawback is limited hours to buy firewood

This was just a short one night stay at the campground. But it was great, the park personnel were very helpful and friendly. There is no fee for vehicles this year for the provincial parks, which makes it even better. We had our dog Buddy with us, and he really enjoyed the dog beach.

Nice camp ground. Sites are very wooded and fairly private. Check when the season starts. We were there mid-June and none of the shops along the beach were open yet. This campground is remote, for the camper that likes quiet in the woods. We had a bear visit our site looking for food. He moved along without issue. My one complaint would be the mosquitoes. There were insanely bad. We were swarmed by them and had to go in the camper.

Nice place to go, dog friendly campsites and beach area. Lots of empty space on the beach for anxious dogs, just have to be able to get through the crowded part to get there unfortunately. Parts of the beach are very rocky, other parts have great soft sand. Lots of washed up mussel shells to be careful of. It was fish fly season when we went so the fish fly carcasses were literally raining from the trees. Campsites are nice, not full of poison ivy like other places I've been to, but the trees are a bit thin between some campsites so choose your sites carefully or you may have a clear view into a neighboring site.

It's my favorite place so far! The campground is very clean and well maintained! Campsites and spacious with good privacy. Beautiful beaches and boardwalk with fresh food and drinks available. Love it!
