Grand Forks City Park

Overview

Grand Forks City Park, often referred to as the Municipal Campground, offers a peaceful retreat nestled in the heart of Boundary Country. This park provides a lush, green environment where travelers can rest under a canopy of mature trees. Unlike many generic roadside stops, this location feels integrated with the natural landscape while remaining incredibly close to local conveniences. It serves as a central hub for those looking to explore the southern interior of British Columbia from a well-maintained home base that captures the region's quiet charm.

Location & Surroundings

The park is uniquely situated at the confluence of the Kettle and Granby Rivers, providing a picturesque backdrop for every stay. Being located right within the city of Grand Forks, guests enjoy the luxury of walking to local shops, cafes, and historic sites. The surrounding valley is known for its rolling hills and sunny climate, making it a perfect spot for those who appreciate the outdoors. The scenic mountain views and river breezes create a relaxing atmosphere that makes it hard to believe you are so close to the downtown core.

Amenities & Park Features

Travelers will find reliable facilities designed to make an RV stay comfortable and stress-free. The park features sites equipped with power and water hookups, ensuring that essential modern conveniences are always available. On-site amenities include clean washrooms, hot showers, and a convenient sani-dump station for easy RV maintenance before heading back out on the road. Families often appreciate the expansive playground and the abundance of shaded picnic spots that make outdoor mealtime a pleasant experience for everyone.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities just steps from their campsite. The nearby Trans Canada Trail offers miles of flat, accessible paths for cycling and hiking, showcasing the region's historic rail-trail charm. The rivers provide opportunities for tubing, fishing, or simply relaxing on the sandy banks during the warm summer months. For a bit of local culture, the downtown area features heritage buildings and markets that highlight the area's unique Doukhobor history and vibrant community spirit.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for families and retirees who value a balance of natural beauty and urban accessibility. It is a fantastic choice for cyclists touring the Kettle Valley Rail Trail who need a reliable place to rest and recharge. If you prefer a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere with easy river access rather than a remote, isolated backcountry site, this park fits your travel style perfectly. It is a welcoming spot for both short weekend getaways and longer explorations of the Boundary region.

This is a very nice setting with clean facilities for an overnight stop. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasnt for the very rude camp host and the price. 37 dollars to drop a small tent for the night.

Nicely designed campground with sun and shade sites, the bathroom and showers are big and clean. We counted 10 deer last night grazing in the park.

This campground is absolutely pristine!! Stayed one night but we will definitely come back. Grand Forks is a beautiful town. Great sites and great service from Joan (Host). You can reserve online.

I was looking for a last-minute place to set up my tent and was happy to find this spot! You can check in from 8 AM to 8 PM. Rate was reasonable, considering there was a very well kept washroom, shower, and potable water. It’s right next to a local field so there was some sports happening. Beautiful river to cool down, however, the sawmill is right across so be prepared for mechanical noises. Tent sites were grassy with picnic tables. Overall, I felt safe here! Joan was a lovely host and informative.
