Grand Lake/Honey Creek

Overview

Grand Lake/Honey Creek State Park offers a scenic retreat on a 38-acre peninsula along the shores of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees. This well-maintained destination serves as a prime gateway for those looking to experience one of Oklahoma’s most popular recreational lakes. The park provides a quiet, natural atmosphere while remaining conveniently close to the services and local culture of Grove, ensuring a balanced outdoor experience.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the northeast corner of Oklahoma, the park is surrounded by the sprawling waters of Grand Lake. The terrain is characterized by gentle slopes and mature trees that provide ample shade for many of the campsites. Its position on the lake makes it a focal point for water-based activities, offering expansive views of the water and easy access to the Honey Creek arm of the lake.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility caters to modern travelers with full hookup RV sites that include both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service. Beyond the campsites, visitors have access to a dump station, clean restroom and shower facilities, and a seasonal outdoor swimming pool. For those bringing watercraft, the park features multiple boat ramps and a dedicated fishing dock, making it easy to get out onto the water directly from the grounds.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While the lake is the primary draw, the surrounding area of Grove offers unique cultural stops. Just a short drive away, you can explore the Lendonwood Gardens, a botanical paradise featuring several distinct garden styles. History buffs often visit Har-Ber Village Museum, a pioneer-era village that provides a glimpse into the region's past. The area is also world-renowned for its professional bass fishing tournaments and local festivals.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal choice for avid anglers and boaters who prioritize quick water access and reliable launch facilities. Families will appreciate the on-site playground and swimming pool, which provide entertainment beyond the lakefront. Because of its peaceful lakeside vibe and proximity to town, it is also a great fit for retirees or long-term travelers looking for a comfortable base to explore Northeast Oklahoma.

The park itself is small with a lot of residential properties surrounding the area. The camp hosts are available, and helpful! There's a boat ramp as well as life jackets hanging aside for anyone who wants to borrow them as well as a fish cleaning station, pool and volleyball court. It was a great great landing spot in between destinations but will unlikely stay there again due to the surroundings. There's a Walmart in town if needed for provisions.

Pretty area with great views of Grand Lake. Clean but outdated campground made for a weird stay. Pleasant hosts made up for bathrooms that are falling apart. Black mold everywhere you can't reach. Probably why it's not being cleaned. Park itself is trash free. Some sites are right on top of each other. Best to come and pick your own spot. Online is definitely a misrepresentation of how close sites are of each other.

This is a nice state park. It wasn’t overcrowded. We had a spot that gave us 30 amp and water. There was a nearby dump station and a nearby bath and restroom. We had a very nice shady level spot at $25 a night. And the lake was in walking distance. It was pet friendly.

Arrived July 2nd 2025, I was helped right away after asking how to use the app to stay in the campground area. Beautiful, quiet, breathtaking views. I felt safe, other campers sawed my logs for the firepit, they all checked on me and the lady that ran it checked on my July 4th when we came back after the fireworks and asked if we needed anything and just set and talked about the area which I love History anyway so that was a major bonus. I will definitely be back! I would give it 10 stars, if I could....plus the fact there is a swimming pool!
