Love this place. We camped out in a tent and had a great time. Sites are well maintained. The bathrooms are very clean and the showers are hot and good pressure. The weather was perfect. Grand Marais is literally walking distance and very convenient.

We camped for a long weekend here. The location is amazing, however, the camp ground could use a bit of love. Our site was the most unlevel site we have encountered (4 leveling blocks side to side and we were so much on an incline our jack didn't go low enough to make us level from to back). Our site was also tiny with no room to set up screen house. The sites are also very tight together. The shore in right there. The northern lights were beautiful. The town is a short walk. Beautiful place. Some sites had lake views. There are some seasonal sites.

An awesome place to spend the weekend! Reasonable campground pricing and if you’re looking for somewhere near town that allows to walk to restaurants/cafes it can’t be beaten. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly which paired with a much needed shower rooms that were plenty nice.

The real star here is the setting — your tent pitched just steps from Lake Superior, with downtown Grand Marais, the marina, and a sweep of rugged shoreline within easy reach. The sites feel open and well-placed for wandering, and while the facilities are plain and ready for an update, the convenience and scenery more than make up for it. Expect to wake to pastel sunrises over the harbor and fall asleep to the steady hush of waves. For the best experience, aim for sites 300–315, which are ideal drive-up tent spots. Shoreline sites, while tempting, are tightly packed and separated from the water by a fringe of woods.

The Grand Marais Campground is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Grand Marais. It features a beautiful beach and is conveniently located just across from the town center, putting shops, restaurants, and attractions all within easy walking distance. The location is especially ideal for families with children, thanks to the beach and nearby amenities—but that can also mean a livelier atmosphere that may not appeal to those seeking peace and solitude. One thing to keep in mind: the campsites are packed quite closely together, offering little to no privacy and plenty of foot traffic. However, we found that guests were very respectful of the quiet hours, which makes a big difference in such tight quarters.
