Grand View Cafe & RV Campground

To my fellow Chinese, please don’t be fooled by the 牛肉面 sign. We were so hooked by that billboard on our way to McCarthy and tried this place on our way back to Anchorage with high hopes, but it was a major disappointment. The taste was below average. It would have been better if we borrowed their kitchen and cooked by ourselves. I swear!!! The price and portion were outrageous… I know veggies are expensive in AK but it doesn’t justify their prices. The portion was so tiny that we finished everything and still left hungry. If you miss Asian food on the way, just buy instant noodles.

This is a very small RV park with campsite next to each other with very tight space. Restrooms are ok but the toilet bowl looks like it needs a thorough cleaning job. Shower room is very small and also coin based. For what it provides it is quite expensive. For a night or two stay I would rather stay in a state campground with spacious campsite and nicer environment. The Chinese owner does not seem to have the warm and laidback personality for being a hostess of an RV campground and Cafe. We walked in the Cafe to check in and waited 10mins before being acknowledged. The owner gave us a nonchalant matter of fact kind of greeting, not exactly welcoming. Being a Chinese myself, a restaurant serving Chinese food sounded appealing, but the owner's attitude was a big turn-off. I am glad we did not eat there, after reading the other campers' review of their food. We do NOT recommend this place

The kitchen closes at 8pm and we reached at 8:30 but the lady was kind and nice enough to let us in. Chicken fried rice was good but the Bao buns were the best we’ve had. Highly recommend the place.

This RV campground is fantastic! The hostess is super nice and welcoming. When we arrived last night, it was closed because she had gone to a neighbor's house for a party. She happened to come back and let us order food and check in. They have showers, toilets, and a laundry room. They also provide water, wastewater, and electricity. It's very convenient and highly recommended.

The campsites are in a big gravel lot, but excellent laundry and shower facilities. You won't get friendlier service at any café or better pies and pizza. This is our second time here and it is amazing! Also get the dumplings!!

We were scheduled to spend one night here before heading home but decided to extend our stay 3 days. We drove to Valdez one day but spent the others here hiking, viewing the glacier and watching the sheep on the mountain through our scope. We ate dinner one night. I chose from their asian menu which was very good. Mark was very helpful and informative. Thank you!

Love this place!!! Friendly services. We actually stopped by twice during our trip to Valdez on the way in and out...because we knew we can get a great service. They have also awesome coffee!! Pizza is only available after 3 pm... and it's good. There are a short trail behind the building too.

I'll start by saying if you're looking for fast food, it's not here. This is a family business, and they all work very hard, every day, all day, to run this spot! So it may not be the hilton, but the food was good, the owners are very sweet, and I spent 5 days here and loved it. Things were a bit crazy 🤪 because of the 4th of July crowd. But Mark and his wife kept things moving with a smile. I'll be back next year for sure!

Absolutely amazing stop! The food was all handmade, delicious and hit the spot. While staying here we tried their house special fried wontons, handmade pizza, beer battered onion rings and their club with freshly prepared coleslaw. This Cafe has everything you would want all in one location. If you're staying here overnight, they come fully equipped with showers, bathrooms, coin operated laundry and all the RV hookups. Free WiFi for guests. Picnic tables are at every RV spot with a truly grand view of Lion's Head and the rest of the Matanuska Glacier grandeur. For those who want a quick and easy hike, they have you covered as well. Grand View Cafe and RV truly is one of Alaska's hidden gems. We can't wait to come back!

Great being able to walk from RV to get dinner. Pizza was good, service was polite but she was obviously trying to run everything from the Cafe and RV park guests by herself. They could have used another person to assist with waitresses. There were only 3 tables including ours when we dined.

Stopped for chai tea and looked for dall sheep. It’s a very nice cafe with many options. We met the Asia lady owner and her husband. They are very friendly couple. Definitely worth to stop by for a snack break or lunch/dinner.

What a hidden gem! We have driven by this place a dozen times without stopping, but this last trip we decided to give it a try. Very friendly staff with a fantastic restaurant and park is well maintained. Also has excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

Stayed at the RV park for one night. Convenient location going from Anchorage to Valdez. Friendly folks. Reasonably priced (paid $38 water & elec). Close to the road, so not super quiet, but expected. Clean. Nice that the restaurant is right there. Looked good.
