Grant Lake Resort
Overview
Grant Lake Resort is a cornerstone of the June Lake Loop, offering a rugged and authentic High Sierra experience. As the largest lake in the area, Grant Lake provides a sense of scale and openness that differs from the more enclosed alpine feel of nearby waters. This resort serves as a seasonal haven for those who appreciate the raw beauty of the Eastern Sierra and want a front-row seat to one of California's most storied fishing destinations. It is a place where the mountain air is crisp and the pace of life slows down to match the ripples on the water.
Location & Surroundings
Situated along the scenic Highway 158, the resort is tucked into a landscape characterized by dramatic granite peaks and sprawling sagebrush. At an elevation of over 7,000 feet, the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range provides a stunning backdrop for every sunset. The location is strategically positioned at the northern end of the loop, making it a convenient gateway for travelers heading toward Mono Lake or the high-country reaches of Yosemite National Park. The surrounding wilderness is vast, offering an immersive escape into nature far from the glow of city lights.
Amenities & Park Features
The resort features a variety of RV sites with hookups, catering to travelers who want to bring the comforts of home to the mountains. A primary draw is the full-service marina, which serves as the central hub for activity on the lake. Guests can access boat launches and rentals or stock up on supplies at the on-site tackle shop and general store. While the park maintains a rustic atmosphere, it provides the essential infrastructure for a successful fishing trip or family vacation, though visitors should be prepared for a truly disconnected experience as cell service is notably sparse in this deep canyon.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary focus, with trophy brown trout fishing being the most popular pursuit on the lake. Unlike some neighboring alpine lakes, Grant Lake allows for water skiing and wakeboarding after 10 AM, making it a versatile destination for water sports enthusiasts. Beyond the shoreline, visitors are just a short drive from the unique tufa towers of Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve. Additionally, the nearby town of June Lake offers charming local dining and additional hiking trails that lead deep into the surrounding wilderness areas and high-altitude basins.
Who This Park Is Best For
Grant Lake Resort is ideal for anglers and boaters who prioritize direct water access and a quiet, no-frills environment. It is the perfect fit for RVers looking for a rustic basecamp that emphasizes the Great Outdoors over luxury resort amenities. Families who enjoy traditional summer lake activities like campfires and fishing will find it a rewarding destination. If you are seeking a place to unplug from digital distractions and reconnect with the rugged landscape of Northern California, this high-country retreat is a standout choice for your next road trip.

Spent this past weekend up there. Love this place. Friendly staff always willing to assist or answer questions. So cool to interact with the wild deer who come into the campground every morning and evening, looking for a handout from the campers. Will definitely return

My family and I have been coming to Grant Lake Resort for decades. We have always enjoyed this campground because it is quiet, shady, clean, family oriented, and offers plenty of outdoor activities. Grant is the fourth lake in the June Lake Loop, and the Resort is only minutes from the charming town. At Grant, you can experience camping, fishing, boating, waterskiing, paddle boarding and much more. Since the new managers, Debbie and Tony Hallum, took over a few years ago, they and their staff have been working hard to make improvements around the campground, creating a fun and friendly atmosphere. The office has a convenience store which carries groceries, Grant Lake Resort apparel, tackle, camping and rv supplies. The campground has horseshoe pits, bathrooms with pay showers, and each site has a nice fire pit, water and sewer hookups and beautiful shade trees. There is now an Annual 4th of July barbeque hosted by the managers for all the campground guests to get-together and celebrate. It’s a perfect setting to kick back, relax and enjoy the incredible views and the local wildlife or be adventurous at the lake. We look forward to making many more special memories at Grant Lake Resort, you should too! D. Ward

Fantastic RV Park with large spaces and fire pits. Store, boat rentals including Pontoons. Lake is full of trophy trout and large enough for boating activities. My wife and I have been camping here for several years and really appreciate the new owners who have really cleaned up the. Resort and placed strict rules that are enforced to protect all their guests. Views are spectacular and you are minutes away from a fantastic hike. This is a must destination for the entire family.

Reservations are by phone only. The staff is friendly and fun. The general store is decently stocked. The campsites are a tad close to each other for my taste and a bit of a walk to the lake (about 3 blocks) Shower tokens are $5 for 3 minutes. The lake water levels weren't awful seeing as we are and have been in a severe drought. Quiet hours were followed. Primarily meant for RV's, not ideal for tents (campsites are very close to one another) Easy access from here to June, Silver, Mono, etc. Bodie is a 45 minute drive.

We had a great experience here. Sites were big and level. The guys in the office were really friendly and helpful. Caught some fish in the lake and it was fun to see all the wildlife.
