Green River
Overview
Green River State Park serves as a lush, unexpected oasis within the stark, dramatic landscape of the Utah desert. Known for its mature cottonwood trees and well-manicured lawns, this park offers a refreshing contrast to the red rock canyons nearby. It is a favored stop for travelers seeking a peaceful atmosphere with the unique benefit of an on-site golf course. The park provides a quiet, community-oriented environment where the sound of the flowing river creates a relaxing backdrop for your stay.
Location & Surroundings
Located directly on the banks of the Green River in the town of Green River, UT, the park is perfectly positioned as a gateway to Southern Utah’s wonders. The surrounding area is characterized by the San Rafael Swell and high-desert plateaus. While the town itself offers basic services, the park feels secluded and private, providing a shaded sanctuary that is rare in this region. Its proximity to Interstate 70 makes it an exceptionally convenient base camp for those traveling between national parks.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for modern RVers, offering sites with power and water hookups and access to a convenient dump station. One of the standout features is the 9-hole golf course that weaves through the park, offering recreation right outside your rig. Visitors also benefit from clean restroom and shower facilities, a boat ramp for river access, and group pavilions. The abundance of shade trees is a significant highlight, helping to keep temperatures comfortable during the peak of the Utah summer.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventure seekers will find the park’s location ideal for exploring the Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, both located within an hour's drive. Closer to home, the San Rafael Swell offers rugged hiking and off-road trails. The Green River itself is a primary draw for flat-water paddling and fishing. Additionally, the famous Crystal Geyser and the otherworldly landscapes of Goblin Valley State Park are easy day trips, making this a central hub for sightseeing.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an excellent fit for river rafters and golfers who want immediate access to their favorite activities. It is also ideal for families who appreciate green space for children to play and travelers who prefer a quiet, scenic environment over a commercial RV resort. If you are a big-rig traveler looking for a shaded desert retreat with easy highway access, Green River State Park offers the perfect balance of convenience and natural beauty.

The wifi was great, is the only good thing about this place. It's under new ownership. No there isn't a firepit or picnic table at every site as they say. They claim laundry is free due to residential machines. The dryers were not working when we were there from 10/2 to 10/4/2025. The pool is filled with dirt, and they call the enclosure the dog park. We paid $160.00 for two nights. Where's the amenities? I recommend going next door to the State Park!

This is a bare bones park. Tress tables & nice flat ground, big fire ring, full hook ups provided as well. Showers were hot, clean, with good pressure. Easy in & out off the interstate but next to a rail line. I didn't even hear the one I watched pass by. Clean quiet place to rest.

We had a good experience here! They ended up moving us from a tent site to an RV spot the day we arrived. But she was really nice on the phone and the spot we got ended up being really nice. The bathrooms were clean and the showers worked fine. Didn’t have to use the laundry. The neighborhood was loud the first night (like someone singing karaoke till 10-11pm) but the second was just fine. There were a couple RVs that seemed to be there permanently but they were all quiet. There are trains but they usually go through quick. It is a camp site in town so you should expect noise here and there. The lack of grass didn’t bother us very much. We had a great time and would come back again if we pass through :)

Directly across from Green River State Park, "I Camp Green River" has full hookups, very long pull throughs, and easy maneuvering. Everything was clean, the new owners are friendly and available, and there was no highway noise. (Don't worry, you can still hear the train ;-).
