As a centerpiece of the Campbellsville area, this state-run facility is known for its spacious campsites and direct access to the massive 8,210-acre reservoir. Location & Surroundings

Situated just south of Campbellsville, the park is surrounded by dense hardwood forests and the shimmering waters of the lake. The geography features rolling hills that offer scenic overlooks, particularly stunning during the autumn foliage season. Its position in Taylor County makes it a gateway to central Kentucky, where the pace of life slows down and the natural beauty of the region creates a quiet backdrop for lakeside camping and wildlife observation.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is well-equipped for travelers, featuring 157 sites with water and electric hookups suitable for various rig sizes. Guests have access to essential facilities including clean bathhouses, a grocery store for supplies, and a laundry area. For recreation within the park, visitors can enjoy a miniature golf course, a sandy beach area for swimming, and multiple playgrounds. The on-site marina provides easy boat rentals and slips for those bringing their own watercraft to explore the vast shoreline.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the campsites, the park boasts 28 miles of multi-use trails perfect for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding. Anglers frequently visit to catch trophy-sized muskellunge, crappie, and bass. Just a short drive away, the city of Campbellsville offers charming local boutiques and historic sites. For history enthusiasts, the Tebbs Bend Battlefield provides an educational look at Civil War history within a few miles of the park entrance, offering a glimpse into the area's storied past.

The lake is terrific! Clean and clear water made tubing and swimming very enjoyable. Firework show on Saturday was top notch!! Superb pizza at the marina. The only subpar thing was the size of the campsites for large campers. It was very difficult getting the camper in and out. Overall great experience for our first time at Green River Lake.

We’ve stayed at Green River State Park Campground for the last few years and really enjoy our time there. The park is beautiful and views are great and campground is quiet. Small store on site with additional shopping and restaurants a short drive away. Putt putt, beach and hiking to fill your time as well. Public bathrooms could use some updating but they are okay and there are plenty of them. It’s a great place to stay to relax and enjoy the region.

The area surrounding Green River Lake State Park is beautiful especially during the fall season. There are so many things to do like hike, rent a boat, camp, swim, putt putt golf, a marina with a restaurant, floating cabins, etc. There is a visitors center off Lone Valley Rd which has alot of great pictures of the area and some amazing fish catches! There is also an overlook point that you can walk out to just beyond the visitors center. Truly a remarkable place, if you have never seen it, do yourself a favor & come enjoy all it has to offer!

This is a beautiful lake! Green River lake is a great place to visit, very welcoming to the public too. There's a bunch of recreational things to do like fishing and camping. The boat ramp and campground are maintained beautifully. KY CBD FARMACY highly recommended place!
