Greenleaf
Overview
Greenleaf State Park, often referred to as the emerald of the Oklahoma state park system, offers a timeless retreat near Braggs, Oklahoma. Established in the 1930s, the park is renowned for its historic WPA-built cabins and facilities constructed from native stone, which give the area a unique and rustic character. Centered around the sparkling 930-acre Greenleaf Lake, this destination provides a serene atmosphere that emphasizes a deep connection with nature and Oklahoma history.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the rugged hills of eastern Oklahoma, the park is nestled within a lush hardwood forest that transforms into a vibrant tapestry of color during the autumn months. The surrounding landscape is defined by its tranquility, largely because the lake maintains a no-wake policy that prohibits jet skis. This creates a peaceful environment for the local wildlife and visitors alike. The park is conveniently located near the Camp Gruber training center and the scenic Arkansas River corridor.
Amenities & Park Features
RV travelers will find well-maintained campsites that include full hookup options with 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service. The park is designed for convenience, featuring a seasonal swimming pool, a marina for boat rentals, and an 18-hole miniature golf course. One of the most distinctive features is the enclosed heated fishing dock, which allows anglers to enjoy the lake regardless of the weather. Families also appreciate the dedicated children’s pond and various playground areas scattered throughout the grounds.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
While the park itself offers plenty of recreation, the surrounding area is rich with exploration opportunities. A short drive leads to Muskogee, where visitors can tour the Five Civilized Tribes Museum or walk through the stunning floral displays at Honor Heights Park. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the park features extensive multi-use hiking trails, including the challenging 18-mile Anisani Trail which winds through the deep woods and offers spectacular views of the lake and limestone bluffs.
Who This Park Is Best For
Greenleaf is an ideal destination for family-oriented RVers and nature photographers who prefer a quiet, traditional camping experience over a busy resort environment. Its calm waters make it a sanctuary for kayakers and paddleboarders seeking a peaceful paddle. If you are a traveler who appreciates scenic historic architecture and a slower pace of life, this park provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway away from the noise of the city.

We’re staying at the RV campsite gobbler Ridge 25. The lawn has been cut and edged everything is clean. The bathrooms are clean. The showers are clean. I can’t emphasize how clean the bathrooms and the showers are!! They are beyond clean. We’ve enjoyed our stay we’re in campsite 25. Everything is so quiet. They have nice picnic tables that are sturdy and fairly new. They’re made out of composite wood. Camper cement slabs very level. And they are extra wide. We have plenty of room behind our camper to put a giant rug the picnic table, chairs, and a lot more. We have extra room on either side of our camper to walk and sit around. I highly recommend the state park. The paved walking trails are clean- clear of overgrowth and debris. They have new benches along the way as well. Dogs are allowed. They have a Dump station as well. Last evening wild deer and turkeys were walking through the empty campsite, but stayed a little bit away from us. It was nice to sit at our camp and watch them.

I was alone here for an overnight stay. I will be bringing my family back. This place is gorgeous. The people are very friendly and they have all kinds of stuff for the kids to do.

Nicest state park in Oklahoma for a quiet stay. Excellent for kids. Built by the WPA, used by the army in WWII. The cabins are extremely rustic. I've always had good luck fishing. No skiing or jet skis allowed.

Talk about a perfect nature getaway! This has been my favorite park so far. We stayed in a cabin (highly recommend!), saw lots of deer and mushrooms, and got to experience some beautiful clear skies that night. Went to bed as a deer walked past our door and woke up to a deer laying down across from our door eating grass. People in the welcome center are absolutely amazing, too! They were all interested in hearing about my dog's journey to the Oklahoma state parks while battling cancer.

Very laid back and welcoming place. We had passed thru ten-killer park nearby and it felt so commercialized and cramped and not at all what we were looking for. Ended up leaving there to go to greenleaf and it was such a great decision. Nature still there pretty cool hiking trails kayak and canoe rentals a sweet general store showers friendly honest park Rangers on staff. So happy we went to this park instead on our trip.
