Greensport RV Park & Campground

Overview

Greensport RV Park & Campground offers a unique blend of Alabama history and scenic waterfront relaxation. Located on the shores of Neely Henry Lake, this park occupies a site that once served as a vital ferry crossing and trading post in the 1800s. Today, it provides a peaceful escape for travelers looking to enjoy the beauty of the Coosa River. The park maintains a rustic charm while providing the essential conveniences required for a modern RV stay, all set against a backdrop of rolling hills and calm waters.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Ashville, Alabama, the park is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The surrounding landscape is characterized by expansive lake views and lush woodlands. It feels secluded and quiet, yet it remains easily accessible from Interstate 59. The natural geography of the Coosa River dominates the experience here, offering guests a direct connection to one of Alabama’s most significant waterways and a landscape that changes beautifully with the seasons.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is equipped with full hookup sites that accommodate both 30 and 50-amp connections, including several spacious pull-thru options. On-site facilities include a clean bathhouse and laundry area, but the centerpiece is the historic general store, which provides a sense of the area’s deep heritage. For those bringing watercraft, the private boat launch and fishing piers make it incredibly easy to get out on the water. Picnic areas and community fire pits encourage a social yet relaxed atmosphere among guests.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While the water is the main draw, the local area offers several notable excursions. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate being near Noccalula Falls Park in Gadsden, which features a stunning 90-foot waterfall and winding hiking trails. History lovers can explore the nearby Horse Pens 40, a historic outdoor nature park known for its unique rock formations and bouldering. Additionally, the park’s central location makes it a convenient base for day trips to the Talladega Superspeedway or the cultural offerings of Birmingham.

We've stayed short-term and long-term in the off-season and recommend this park to anyone looking for beautiful scenery, space and nature. It offers a nice balance of entertainment for adults and children, including a petting zoo, water activities and a lot of space and trails to walk our dog. The staff is friendly and helpful and the facilities are very clean.

Fantastic! First visit and stayed a week, Sunday to Sunday for Thanksgiving. Lots of room to roam! LOVE the large grassy areas/fields! Large and very level gravel parking pad. I scotched the wheels, raised the hitch off the ball, checked level side to side and front to rear, and it was pretty much perfect! All I had to do was drop the stabilizers! I had driven by a couple of weeks prior and picked from the sites that were available so I knew what to expect. The stretch of water happens to be pretty much due east and west for amazing views of the sunrise and sunset! I’m including some sunset and sunrise pics taken from my site (with phone cam). Can’t wait to visit again, especially in warm weather for water activities! Thanks for the good time and great memories!

Had a great bday weekend for me with my wife here. Place was really nice, quiet and peaceful; especially being on the water. We will definitely be back again.

Great RV campground for water sports. Fishing, boat rentals, social activities, volleyball, corn hole, pickle ball, 2 pools, a beautifully taken care of. And always a plus, reasonably affordable.
