Staff and location wonderful. Toilets and sinks were clean but the rest of the bathroom and showers were gross. Signs for no smoking on the doors but the seasonals apparently don't count. Sites are ok. Some share a covered patio which is great if you're camping with friends but not great if you're not.

Well, I should have read the reviews before booking. We stayed in one of the cabins, and while the cabin was okay, the rest of the environment surrounding it was definitely not. The young lady that checked us in was very nice and quite friendly, but that was the only interaction we had with the staff. The cabins are “rustic”, which was fine, we were looking to simply avoid the hassle of a tent, and it served that purpose. The bathroom facilities are absolutely atrocious. Both toilets in the ladies room were covered in diarrhea, and only one of the toilets in the men’s room would flush. There was no toilet paper or paper towels in either bathroom, and it looked like they hadn’t been serviced since before Sturgis Rally which was two months ago. There was also a pair of hills-have-eyes people apparently living in one of the cabins. It seems the management puts all their effort into maintaining the RV park, and the motel and cabins are left to someday be the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 12.

We stayed in the cabins this time. I don't recommend. Too small, not very clean, road noise, and restrooms were closed there (they need to be). The staff are all very wonderful. We brought our camper the the last time and had a great experience.

I have stayed at this RV park, hotel, and cabins many times. I recently had to cancel my stay in the RV park for 3 nights and Cabin No. 1 for 4 nights. The reservations weren't until September 25th, 2025. They canceled the RV site but I haven't received any refund. I canceled the cabin rental the same phone call and they have not canceled my reservation. I have contacted them by email at least 5 times and they don't respond. My credit card company has no record of them canceling my reservations. BEWARE IF YOU EVER HAVE TO CANCEL. I will never stay there again. There are much better choices that actually care about their customers. Not this business.

Our stay was great 19-21st of July we had space shade the staff was kind and very pleasant to work with! The bathrooms and showers may be a little outdated but hey we’re camping I’m glad it was more than a porta potty like what I would have gotten growing up in the 90s and early 2000s I would stay there again for sure! What a breath of fresh air and the views around were amazing close to lots of area attractions. We wanna give thanks for accommodating our family last minute and for the extra day we added on!

Best year-round RV resort in the Black Hills. I spent last winter at Hart Ranch RV Resort. Although Happy Holiday is not as polished, it is far less snobby and has a much more friendly staff.

Nice spot & staff! Great location next to the black hills & mount Rushmore. We loved the reptile garden across the street!

Cabins could have been cleaned better. Dust balls bug spray. But other than that loved it people were friendly. And helpful. Pool baths clean. Price good

The location was wonderful, very convenient to Mt. Rushmore. And it was sure convenient to have full hookups on our road trip. However, the weird arrangement of putting campers door to door (facing opposite directions), sharing a gazebo with strangers, was not ideal. And we ended up with a site right up front and it was hot and busy and not very outdoorsy. It felt very much like a super crowded trailer park and not like a vacation RV park. The laundry was expensive but worked well and the bathrooms and showers were clean.
