Decent sized state park with a few attractions to see. We camped here and we were able to see them all in the first day. The campsites are dispersed well so that you don't feel like you're being watched by other campers. ๐Ÿ˜… There's a bit of tree coverage which was nice since it was raining.

Camped for a week in September. The campsites on the weekends were about half full but we were almost the only people there midweek. Pretty park but quite a bit of storm damage that hasn't been completely cleaned up. The Northern lights were incredible one of the nights of our stay.

The campground is nice, very wooded. Bathrooms were well maintained and cleaned daily, hot showers was a plus. Unfortunately we were there just after a big storm so a lot of trees down. The hosts were great- very friendly! A lot of mosquitoes and flies, ticks were bad also from walking the trails. Very peaceful. We would go back.

Hayes Lake State Park, a thirty-minute drive from Roseau's city center, is a lovely forested park. It offers several natural surface hiking trails, including the 4-mile one-way, interpretive Pine Ridge trail that meanders around Hayes Lake through a pine forest๐ŸŒฒ, a brief boardwalk traversing a bog, a two-mile one-way Bear Track trail, and a four-mile one-way Moose Ridge trail. It is an excellent destination for those interested in birdwatching ๐Ÿฆ and wildflowers ๐ŸŒธ The park is a stark contrast to the flat, expansive farm fields in the area. It's a hidden gem ๐Ÿ’Ž

For people wondering if it's worth the drive from Badger or Roseau. It is. Then again, for an hour and a half of combined driving time, do you want to spend that time just to walk around nature when you could have already walked around your neighborhood for the same experience except for free. Yes, that's right besides the gasoline they charge you to walk or sit at this park. What is important to you?

I used to go here as a younger person and spend many hours on the beach. Cooking on the grills, picnic tables, parking area.

Hayes Lake is gorgeous. Beautiful for canoeing or kayaking with lots of inlets. There's camping and swimming and fishing. Really enjoyed hiking along the shore line. There are also horse trails.

If you want peace, quiet, seclusion and a break from the fast pace of the world trying to keep up with the internet, this park is perfect! We stayed for a week the third week of September and basically had the park to ourselves, perfect. Good well maintained hiking trails, large campsites and the sounds of nature was just what we needed.

XC ski trails broke the old fashion way today by three of us this second day of 2022. MN State Parks don't groom trails anymore I have been told, because of insurance liability coverage doesn't exist. The world use to at least have common sense I quess that left the planet now to....

The place is very cute. Excellently clean. The roadway is not paving but quite passable. Fresh air. The water not so clean, I mean had green slime. It is cold depending on the time of year. Very distant in my opinion. Very lonely, wild animals could be seen, so be very careful. Bring enough fuel and groceries. There is nothing close for about 45 minutes or more. Really a unique experience but I achieved it because I lived close to it, otherwise it would not be worth it for the distance. But if you love forests this would be your place

I absolutely love this campground! It was a hidden gem for sure. The camp spaces are very well laid out and make you feel like you have your own little corner of the world. The nature views, trees, beautiful lake for swimming with an awesome sand beach, make this place definitely worth a try. I am giving four stars instead of 5 because the bathrooms and shower lodge could use some updating and were not very clean. Will definitely be camping there again. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’“
