Haynes Point
Overview
s'ə'i's Park, historically known as Haynes Point Provincial Park, offers a truly unique camping experience on a narrow peninsula extending deep into Osoyoos Lake. Managed by the Osoyoos Indian Band, this park is celebrated for its rare desert ecosystem and unparalleled waterfront access. It provides a peaceful retreat for those who appreciate natural beauty and cultural significance over resort-style luxuries. The park serves as a vital sanctuary for local wildlife and offers a deep connection to the history of the Syilx people, making it a meaningful stop for any traveler.
Location & Surroundings
Situated at the southern tip of the Okanagan Valley, the park sits within Canada's only true desert environment. The landscape is beautifully characterized by sagebrush, prickly pear cactus, and ponderosa pine, all surrounded by the famously warm waters of the lake. Its location on a long sand spit means that almost every campsite is just steps away from the shoreline. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the vibrant town of Osoyoos shimmering across the water at night.
Amenities & Park Features
As a natural provincial park, the facilities are designed to maintain a rustic and authentic atmosphere. The park offers dry camping sites without electricity or water hookups, making it an ideal destination for self-contained RVs. You will find essential amenities such as pit toilets, hand-pump water, and sturdy picnic tables at each site. There is a convenient sani-dump station located near the park entrance to assist RVers. The park also features a public boat launch and well-maintained interpretive trails that wind through the delicate marshlands.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw is the lake itself, which is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding in some of the warmest freshwater in the country. Just a short drive away, the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre offers fascinating insights into the local ecology and indigenous heritage. Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to world-class vineyards and tasting rooms located throughout the Okanagan region. For a unique geological sight, visitors can travel a few minutes west to view the famous mineral circles of Spotted Lake.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an exceptional choice for RVers who prioritize unbeatable scenic views and tranquility over modern hookups. It is a fantastic destination for families looking for a beach-centric vacation or nature photographers seeking unique desert flora and fauna. Because the sites lack power and water connections, it is best suited for those comfortable with boondocking or dry camping setups. If you want to wake up to the sound of lapping waves and enjoy clear, starry desert nights, this park fits your travel style perfectly.

I have been camping at Haynes Point since the late 70s. It's not groomed like private campsites may be and thereareno hookups but each site is private and surrounded by natural vegetation. Each site, even the ones in the center have fabulous views and easy access to the lake.

It was the last day of a week long road trip, so we didn't explore as much as we would have liked. But it's a cool place. Next year we'll camp there for a couple of nights, and really get a feel for it.

Walked along the peninsula and it was beautiful. At the beginning are outhouses and a picnic area. At the end, it is a campsite and would be absolutely packed most weekends, so be mindful and don't walk through people's sites. At the turn of the road is a path through the shrubs to the tip of the peninsula, even has a bench to enjoy the view. Nice little walk to stretch your legs.

A stunning oasis with its picturesque lake views and well-maintained area perfect for both leisurely and strolls. The lush greenery and diverse flora create a serene atmosphere, ideal for picnics and relaxation. With its family and pet-friendly amenities, it's a must-visit destination for nature lovers. Kudos to maintenance for making the washroom well cleaned.

Love love love this park! We go every year. Sometimes more than once if we are lucky. Must be up early to reserve, but well worth the effort! Warm water , stunning sunsets, great for bike riding around campsite and Osoyoos. Great bird watching , boating or just floating. Clean and friendly always!
