Heritage Campsite & RV Park

Overview

Heritage Campsite & RV Park provides a tranquil getaway situated between the rolling hills of the Thompson-Okanagan region. This park serves as a convenient midpoint between Kamloops and Vernon, offering travelers a chance to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty of the Monte Lake area. It maintains a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere that captures the essence of classic lakeside camping without the bustle of larger city resorts. The park is well-regarded for its clean grounds, friendly service, and quiet environment.

Location & Surroundings

Located directly along Highway 97, the park sits across from the sparkling waters of Monte Lake. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dry interior forests and dramatic hillsides, typical of this unique British Columbia climate. Visitors can enjoy easy access to the water, while the park's elevation provides cool evening breezes that are perfect for sitting outside after a long day of travel through the Thompson Valley. The proximity to the lake makes it a scenic haven for nature lovers and road trippers alike.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility is well-equipped for various types of rigs, offering full-hookup sites with both 30 and 50-amp power options. For those traveling in larger motorhomes, the spacious pull-through sites make maneuvering simple. On-site conveniences include clean laundry facilities, hot showers, and a small convenience store for camping essentials. Children often gravitate toward the playground, while everyone appreciates the dedicated fire pits for roasting marshmallows under the stars. The park also provides well-maintained gravel pads and lush grass areas for a comfortable stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for many visitors is Monte Lake itself, which is renowned for its kokanee and rainbow trout fishing. Boating and paddleboarding are popular daytime activities, and there is a public boat launch located just a short distance from the park entrance. For those willing to drive into the neighboring cities, Vernon offers world-class wineries, while Kamloops provides shopping and historical sites like the BC Wildlife Park. Hiking trails through the surrounding hills offer panoramic views of the valley, making it a great home base for exploration.

Who This Park Is Best For

What a great place to stay along my loop back from Jasper to the Okanagan Valley! The easily accessible pull-through spot had full hook ups for 30 amp electricity, water and a sani-dump spot. The washroom was the nicest I’ve ever seen in a campground, with a brand new tile and glass shower, raised bowl sinks, and two toilet stalls. The neighbors were close but all were quiet and respectful, and the majority seemed to be seasonal or long-term tenants. There was lots of shade, a view of the lake through the trees, and easy boat access to the water nearby. Pets welcome! Also a general store and a food truck less than 5 minutes drive away. The WiFi was a particular bonus and fast enough to support video calls for work. Thanks for an outstanding stay! Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful and well-run campground. They have taken time and lots of effort to make it a great place to camp or RV. The owners are very friendly as well. They have bathrooms and a shower!
