I have been coming up here on and off since the 90’s (yes the 19-90’s) and one thing I love, is over the years there has been little change! It is a quiet, peaceful place to camp and spend time away from craziness. The facilities are always clean, there’s no trash piling up around the trash cans. The campsites and beaches are well maintained. The staff are Friendly and polite. The trails are kept clean and great for biking. No loud music at night (Outside radios are not allowed), No people “ Carrying on” all hours of the night (They have a designated quiet hour, which everyone seems to adhere to), And as much as I love dogs and critters, there are no pets allowed, So no barking dogs in the middle of the night at the numerous four -legged visitors that you will have especially if you leave food out. They have a great camp store with just about anything you would need including lobsters, clams, and oysters… they’ll even cook them for you… But you do have to shuck your own oysters. Snagging a reservation can be a bit frustrating as you have to call, and the lines always seem to be busy… Keep being persistent you’ll get through. I’ve come to think it’s just part of the experience. The views, the sunsets, The clear starry nights not blocked out by light pollution is definitely worth the price of admission. Planning a trip just to get away from everything? I couldn’t think of a better place to go.

Absolutely beautiful campground! Quiet and relaxing, with lots of friendly campers. We had an oceanfront site, and the sunsets felt like something out of a movie. Definitely be prepared to deal with some mosquitoes and nosey critters, but as long as you bring bug spray, and hide your food really good, you should be ok. The stunning views, and falling asleep to the sound of waves, was so peaceful. No amount of time could have possibly felt like enough. We will be back next year!

It’s a beautiful place—I’m just not friendly with the skunks yet! We had a lot of fun and will definitely come back again next year

We had a wonderful time camping here. It's absolutely gorgeous, and our site was very private. It was so fun biking around the island, and the bathrooms & showers were great. The only thing that I didn't like was the excessive mosquitos, but that has nothing to do with the campground. We went in July and stayed on the Branch. Just pack a lot of bug spray and a screen tent.

Best beach ever. Made a seagull friend, we named him Clyde. Stayed with us all day, watched our blanket while we swam, chased off all the other gulls. I suggest when you visit to bring a box of cheese its. Those are his favorite, wave one of those around I guarantee Clyde will find you.

First, let me say that the campground is amazing. Beautiful and beautifully maintained. Most of the campsites are pretty well spaced and do an ok job of blocking your neighbor.. though it would pay to have a look at your site before committing. The beaches are very nice, but don't expect much swimming. The water is, of course, super cold. Staff was nice. Bathrooms leave a little to be desired. The composting toilets were decent, but the flush toilets were pretty nasty. Smelled really bad. The showers were decent... really small but the water temp and pressure was nice... though you had to control it by pressing in a spring loaded button every 10-20 seconds or so. Peace and quiet and relaxation are very important to us so when we made our reservation it was important that the campground enforce quiet time. Well, campers, you may not be surprised that this was not a thing. The woman we made the reservations with said a gentleman would be driving around in his golf cart or truck patrolling during the evening.. and, as is usual, there was a large crowd making all kinds of noise and a woman with her children that were also unruly. So, after an hour of putting up with this we had to go tell them to be quiet. You will be shocked to learn that they were not apologetic, though they did quiet down. But this is not my idea of camping: to have to do the job of the campground "patrol." "But," you're saying, "why didn't you just flag down the guy on patrol?" Well, it would have been impossible unless I left my campsite and stood on a side road far away from my campsite (since he never once came down our road) and hoped he would drive by. I saw him once and never saw him again. There would have been no way to catch him. People also got up long before quiet time was over and made plenty of noise. Now this seems to be a problem in all campgrounds that I wish campground owners would address. I get that people are having a good time, but there are also people who want peace and quiet. If you're going to have quiet hours, enforce them! Otherwise, don't bother. It should not be your camper's responsibility to police other campers, which tends to breed animosity between the campers. The last thing to know is that at least some of the trails on the island are not well maintained and not for a leisurely stroll. Elderly people especially would not be able to make the one we took. And the flies are crazy. Once on the trail we were engulfed with flies. Not the fault of the campground, of course, just something to be aware of. The island is pretty buggy.. so bring insect repellent. Other than the noisy neighbors, the campground is wonderful. We will definitely be returning, and hoping the noisy people can manage to stay at home.
