Herring Cove
Overview
Herring Cove Provincial Park offers a serene escape on the eastern tip of Campobello Island in New Brunswick. Known for its proximity to the powerful Bay of Fundy, this park provides travelers with a unique coastal experience defined by rising tides and morning mist. It is a place where the forest meets the sea, offering a peaceful atmosphere that captures the rugged beauty of the Atlantic provinces.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated near the charming village of Welshpool, accessible by bridge from Lubec, Maine, or by seasonal ferry from mainland New Brunswick. The surrounding landscape is dominated by a dramatic coastline and dense spruce forests. Because it sits on an island, the air is often filled with the scent of salt spray, and the shifting weather adds to the authentic maritime character of the region.

The park provides essential services to ensure a comfortable stay while maintaining a natural feel. Visitors can enjoy several well-maintained facilities designed for the modern RVer:
- 32 electrical sites with 30-amp service.
- Modern washrooms and hot showers.
- A scenic 9-hole golf course on-site.
- Access to a one-mile beach for shoreline exploration.
Additionally, a kitchen shelter and a dump station are available for guest use, making it easy to manage long-term stays while enjoying the natural coastal landscape.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Just a short drive away is the Roosevelt Campobello International Park, where visitors can explore the historic summer home of FDR. Travelers should also visit the iconic East Quoddy Lighthouse, which is accessible only at low tide. The island is a prime location for whale watching and birding, with several trails weaving through the park's diverse ecosystems, offering vantage points over the crashing waves.

Peaceful laid back out of the way place. Bring golf clubs! Golf course is across the street and not busy. Trails from cg go to beach and to FDR's buildings.

We went with family and stayed at sites 25 & 26. There is power but no water or sewer at the actual sites. They were very private and treed. The bathrooms were clean. It's a short walk to a very beautiful beach. The campsite is walking distance to the Roosevelt Campobello International Park. We highly recommend seeing it.

Absolutely lovely beach. Camping area looks pleasant but I haven't stayed there myself. Rocks on the beach are A+, its a primarily rocky beach. One of my favourite spots to stop when visiting the island.

Nicely wooded sites at Herring point provincial park, in the electrical section. Nice walk to the beach. Water is too cold to swim but the kayaking was great. Lovely little island, went five nights and loved it. Nice hike to liberty point, the light house is a fun visit.

Clean modern restrooms with hot water and paper towels. The showers are clean and include a curtained changing area. The park has a coin operated washer and dryer. Tent sights are roomy and shaded. RV sights available but are in open area (not shaded). Nice play area with water play for the kids.
