My sister got a room here and someone OPENED THE DOOR TO HER ROOM while she was asleep! DO NOT STAY HERE. How does something like this happen!?!?! Got it: NEGLIGENCE! The only thing keeping the intruder from entering her room all the way was a flimsy chain. After screaming in terror the intruder left, she called the police, and they stayed with her while she packed her car and left at 12 AM. Absolutely horrible.

Totally awesome place. Rooms are basic but clean. GREAT office staff. Diner with some of the best fish I've had in years. We were allowed to check in early. I mentioned I lost my walking cane on the bus and couldn't find one in town. He goes to the back office, comes back out with a cane. Refused any payment.

I enjoyed my stay here very much. The rooms are simple, but clean, comfortable, and warmed by the wood furnishings I did not have a window view of Mt Shasta, but the mountain is present everywhere I missed in-room coffee, but it was only a few steps to the cafe attached - and they gave me chips for free coffee, so I was okay with that. Waffle with strawberry compote was delicious, and the server was delightful If you want in-room coffee, fridge, and microwave, this is not the place for you. If you want fresh paint and the latest bathroom fixtures, this is not the place for you. If you want a place pristinely quiet away from highway traffic, this is not the place for you If you want a clean, comfy, reasonably quiet room that has comfy food right there, then this is the place for you, as it was for me PS: TV and wifi worked

Don't stay here. Sleep in your car. I arrived on Sunday March 22nd at 11:30 pm. I paid $89 for the night and the best thing I can say about the room is that I wasn't murdered in my sleep. I used the key card to open the door to my room in the ground level and the light switch didn't turn on any lights. I used my cell phone light to get into the room and find a lamp. There is no dead bolt on the door only a chain. My bedroom window was wide open. I immediately began looking around the room to ensure I was the only person in it. I shut the window and locked it. I turned on the heater because it was 40 something degrees in the room because the window had been open half the night. I checked the bathroom window to make sure it was closed and locked. The toilet was clogged. The bed was hard as a brick with one thin blanket and no extras. As a single traveler safety is important and I haven't felt this unsafe in many years.

Great deal and comfortable room, even had a shower seat thank goodness! And close enough to get to the cafe with amazing food, will definitely want to stay again and recommend this place to those trying to stay on budget.

Nice old Hotel very thin walls. But the view of the mountains is great. The price listed online is not what it was. Online it was listed at $58 a night and it was over $150.00.

A decent motel. There are no mini refrigerators or microwaves. It was comfortable but happened to have THREE flies in the bathroom area, which was a little off-putting.

Very nice clean room. With excellent air conditioning (very important as it's been about 100 F last few days ) , and strong WiFi. (Stayed at a different local motel for a couple of days - it had many problems, so Hi-Lo is great improvement.)

This is a great location, just near Mount Shasta and Dunsmere so easy access to all kinds of hiking and snow activities in the winter. Request a room facing the creek. Very quiet as long as you have a quiet neighbor. I have to say the rooms are very thin, and there was a woman giggling well past 10 and we could hear her just as if she was in our own room. We were getting up early at five to beat the heat on a hike and it was really important that we get some sleep. Luckily, we had earplugs. Overall, I would say it’s charming and an old-fashioned kind of way. The guy at the front desk is very nice. They have lots of rooms. They may even have a room with the view of Mount Shasta. It is very basic however, clean with clean towels and nice shower

We were tired and stopped here. It is not horrible, but it is not great. Room with a queen bed was >$120. The room did not smell of cigarette smoke but did smell musty. Someone needs to take a toothbrush and some Comet to the bottom of the shower door. Very moldy. Furniture was cheap, minimalist. Bed hard.

We enjoyed the convenient location and had a generally pleasant stay here. The room was on the smaller side and a bit dated, but it was clean and functional. A couple of minor drawbacks were the lack of a hair dryer and the thin walls (we got woken up by other guests once or twice)

We’ve stayed here a few times. I booked a family suite yesterday morning as they were almost sold out, and they promised to setup an extra bed in the suite for us. The bed was not setup when we arrived at 9pm, so there was a bunch of work to get that done. Staff was very helpful. The room was setup for 2, not 3, so we were short on towels. Multiple trips back to the desk to get what we needed. The dryer in the suite didn’t work. The air mattress they gave us collapsed in the night, so my daughter had a rough night sleep. I reported these things at checkout. It was a busy night, but feels like we paid full price for a room that wasn’t fully functional.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Yes, the other reviews are correct. This used to be a quaint and safe lodging for the night. Since the new owner has taken over, this has turned into a dirty, expensive, unsafe and nasty place. This is in regards to the RV Park. For God's sake, please stay at Mountain Gate, a Casino or even a Rest Stop instead of here. Here is the list of nasty's: 1.When we called for a night, they tried to insist that we pay ahead because there were only "2 places left!". In fact, when we arrived, there were 7 spots open. 2. The lawn, sorry, weeds now, were covered in dog shit. We spent the arrival picking up old dog shit for the first 5 minutes of our arrival. 3. There were permanent renters there that had NASTY campers. Tarps, trash and meth head real estate. 4. The restrooms were dirty, overfilling with trash and just nasty. Shower water was tepid. 5. The parking lot has vagrants walking through and it is very, very dark. We did not feel safe. At 1 am, someone decided to have their drunken friends yell and hoot themselves drunk. Did any manager come out and inspect, of course not! Bottom line, the new owners are driving this park into the ground. STAY AWAY!!!

Attention owners - What are you doing? This place was a destination for many because of the basics. Clean rooms, quality basic food offerings & friendly staff. Bacon eggs toast OJ good coffee not the off the wall items you have now. When you purchased this place you purchased a place that has been historically what people want when traveling through & it just needed a little help to get back to amazing. It didn’t need major changes. Now it does. Get back to the basics. Think about it, where is there another sit down restaurant nearby? You have an opportunity. Stop throwing discounts around, serve the basic menu again with large portions, clean the rooms, like really clean the rooms (bedbugs, really? C’mon) & get the staff in line or replace with people that are actually friendly. Trust me on this. Your current path is leading to a shutdown. Good lord fix the sign outside! Are you trying to be a horror film hotel? You CAN do it & the people want it.

I saw the other reviews and I wonder if they stayed at the same motel I did?!??? I spent the night last night because of a storm and I found my room was perfect. If I want to stay at the Avanti or Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco I will and I have. If I am in Northern California I will stay at the Hi Lo.
