Food is crap. Been there twice this past summer. Gave them another shot but food again, was horrible. Also can’t have dogs outside where the restaurant is.

I love Hickory Star! My parents have had their boat in a slip for years. We do mini stay-cations where we rent the little cottages and enjoy a weekend away from the city! Mini kitchen with basically everything you need but limited. 5 out of 5 stars!

We camped one night. The person working the desk was very kind. She is the only reason for stars. And the lake is nice. But this place needs a full gut. The bathroom was nasty, and the sites had trash. It was just dirty and not well kept. It's time for a remodel. I would not stay again.

The pool is NOT open, doesn't seem like it has been in a couple years. Wifi in the campground was too weak to function. Air conditioner in the cabin barely made a difference. The poor ladies at the restaurant were working SO hard to keep up; but there was nowhere to sit and we were told it would be over an hour's wait for to-go food. I had fond memories from here from the 80s but the charm has faded. Now it's just a floating overcrowded beer bar, not family friendly.

This place is nowhere near what it used to be... Hickory Star used to be a vibrant beautiful place to visit. We used to camp here all the time when we were kids. They had a great restaurant, a sparkling blue pool, a beautiful fun campground... now it just looks neglected, outdated, & run down. They closed the pool for no reason, the campground is terrible, the docks look like they're falling apart, there is nothing for kids to do, no park, no swimming area, nothing... The current owners just need to walk away. They need to sell it to a company that actually wants to invest time, attention, and money into this place. The potential is limitless here and the right person could truly turn it back into something incredible.

Nice views of the lake, and nice people around the marina. It's closed now for the season. But check it out when it opens. Please open ur pool this coming year.

Only stopped for gas. It was a good experience. Looks like a nice back deck and the attendant told us the food was great.

Hickory Star Campground and Resort is a little different than other campgrounds. If you like to party on the weekends, this is the place to go. The bar and grill have live bands and great food. We spent July 4 watching the best fireworks around. Guaranteed. No questions asked. There are only a few tent sites up a dark hill. And I mean dark. No water or electric. On up the mountain there seems to be monthly and yearly rentals That info is not verified. The rental cabins are clean and convenient to all activities. All other sites are for RV with electric and water. THEY EVEN HAVE A LAUNDRY FACILITY ON SITE. Which was awesome.! Bathrooms were very efficient and convenient to all sites. Very respectful staff tending to their business and not ours. Fun time! Great place to visit!

Very friendly to us but not for pets. Very surprising for a boat dock with outdoor seating. We decided not to eat there

Very nice accommodation and priced very reasonable. The staff is absolutely amazing and go above and beyond to help. Bob is one of the nicest people I have ever met and made us feel like family. All around great place and highly recommend.
