Hidden Valley Campground

Overview

Hidden Valley Campground offers a serene escape tucked away in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Unlike the high-energy atmosphere of downtown, this park provides a tranquil valley setting surrounded by towering ponderosa pines. It serves as a peaceful retreat where visitors can reconnect with nature while staying close to legendary historic sites. The sound of Whitewood Creek flowing nearby adds to the relaxing ambiance that defines this family-owned destination.

Location & Surroundings

The park is conveniently located on US Highway 14A, just a few miles from the historic streets of Deadwood. Its position in a sheltered mountain valley protects guests from the wind and road noise often found at other area parks. The surrounding landscape is characterized by steep limestone cliffs and lush forest greenery. Travelers will appreciate the scenic bypass access, which makes it simple to navigate large rigs through the winding beauty of the Black Hills National Forest.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is designed to accommodate a variety of camping styles, offering full hookup RV sites equipped with both 30 and 50-amp electricity. For those who prefer a more traditional experience, there are spacious tent areas and cozy cabins available. On-site facilities include a clean modern bathhouse and a laundry room for guest convenience. Each site typically features a picnic table and fire ring, encouraging evening gatherings under the stars. Limited wireless internet helps travelers stay connected while maintaining a rustic feel.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Staying here puts you minutes away from the excitement of Historic Deadwood, where you can explore gold rush history and visit Mount Moriah Cemetery. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the proximity to Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway, famous for its waterfalls and hiking trails. The park also serves as an excellent base for day trips to Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Crazy Horse Memorial. Biking enthusiasts can easily access the George S. Mickelson Trail, which offers miles of converted rail-trail paths through the mountains.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for RVers who value a quiet, nature-focused atmosphere over the amenities of a luxury resort. It is a perfect fit for families and couples who want a comfortable home base while exploring the rich heritage of South Dakota. If you prefer a scenic, rustic environment where you can enjoy a campfire and the rustle of pine trees, Hidden Valley Campground offers the authentic Black Hills experience you are looking for.

Hidden Valley Camp- (Deadwood) Ground is by far the best campground that we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. From making reservations months ago to checking in… The entire process has been amazing and flawless. The sites and grounds are wonderfully maintained up to date and impeccably clean. Jason and his entire team are absolutely the very nicest, professional, friendly and kind. Jason walks the grounds several times a day to check on every guest. How awesome is that?!! We stayed in Lot number 10 during the Sturgis Rally and we could not be happier with our choice. We’re already planning to reserve our same spot again next year! 20/10! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed at the campground for four nights in may 2025. The sites are clean, the babbling brook through the campground is pretty and provides the best sound at night to help you slumber peacefully. The lush, green grass all throughout the property really sets this campground apart from others we’ve stayed at. We spent a couple of days at the lake on the property and it was delightful. Paddle boards, pedal boats, fishing, and the trampoline on the water were a huge hit. We also used the game room and shower room. Every facility here is well cared for and expertly maintained. We will definitely be back!

Without a doubt the best campground in the area! Jason, Leah and their boys + camp hosts are phenomenal people! Their land and facilities are immaculate. Restrooms and showers are clean! Immediate access to ATV trails. The lake on their property is great for swimming, fishing, or enjoying their paddle boats. My family has been coming for years and will continue for years to come! Already booked our stay for next year!

We stayed at the Hidden Valley Campground for 3 nights in May 2025. The staff is very friendly and kind. We had truck problems, and we were delayed several days for our scheduled arrival, but they worked with us and were very accommodating. We had a nice site with a great view. The bath/showers were a little far from our site but were clean. Our only complaint would be the WIFI kept dropping us during an online lesson. A little frustrating but it worked. We would definitely stay here again, nice people!
