High Rock Lake/Marina & Campground

Overview

High Rock Lake Marina & Campground serves as a premier destination for those looking to experience the beauty of North Carolina's second-largest lake. Nestled in the heart of the Piedmont region, this park offers a unique combination of waterfront relaxation and traditional camping charm. Whether you are arriving with a large motorhome or a smaller travel trailer, the park provides a welcoming environment that emphasizes the natural beauty of the High Rock Lake shoreline. It is a place where the pace of life slows down to match the gentle rhythm of the water.

Location & Surroundings

Located just outside of Lexington, NC, the park is surrounded by lush forests and sprawling lake views. The location is strategic, providing a peaceful escape while remaining within easy reach of the Yadkin Valley. This area is known for its scenic drives and rural charm, where the sound of the water often replaces the hum of highway traffic. The park's layout takes full advantage of the gentle topography of the shoreline, offering many sites with clear vistas of the lake and easy access to the water's edge.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility is well-equipped to handle the needs of modern RVers with a variety of functional and recreational features. Highlights include a full-service marina that offers boat ramps and a convenient gas dock for those bringing their own watercraft. On land, guests have access to a sparkling swimming pool, clean laundry facilities, and a playground for children. The RV sites are designed to accommodate various rig sizes, featuring hookups that ensure a comfortable stay. The inclusion of a snack bar and camp store makes it easy to grab essentials without leaving the grounds.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While the lake is the primary draw, the surrounding Lexington area offers plenty of cultural appeal for day trips. A visit to the historic downtown is a must for anyone wanting to sample authentic Lexington-style barbecue at world-famous local eateries. For a more refined afternoon, Childress Vineyards offers tastings and tours just minutes away from the campground. Nature lovers can also explore nearby state parks or spend the day fishing for largemouth bass, which High Rock Lake is famous for throughout the Southeast.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is a perfect match for active families who enjoy spending their days on the water and their evenings around a campfire. It is also highly recommended for boating and fishing enthusiasts who value having a professional marina within walking distance of their campsite. Because of its quiet atmosphere and scenic beauty, it also appeals to retirees and seasonal campers looking for a consistent, high-quality lakeside retreat away from the bustle of more commercialized tourist hubs.

Awesome camp ground. Cabins are very clean and the views are amazing.

Camp ground itself is good, clean and well maintained but it's relatively small for the number of people in the site on weekends. Lake itself if VERY busy, you'll hear loud and racing boats, jet ski every 2 - 5 minutes nonstop during the day. I would not rank this place as calm quiet weekend getaway. If you have kids and are used to loud lake activities, this is your place

Not nice and clean, or super well maintained but useable with ample parking.

There were a lot of permanent campers set up, but not many people. The staff was very nice. The pool was nice too. There's a grill and a little store at the office. We kayaked and rode bikes. The over night sites are small, but a 40 ft motor home was squeezed into one. Bring your levelers.
