Great spot to chill and appreciate nature and the loons. Too bad the jet skis and motor boats scare them so bad Camp host was wonderful. Found me an open campsite for 2 nights Early morning birding was amazing as were the mosquitoes Spots were spaced nicely and the bathrooms very clean Very nice spot a little off the beaten path Breathe full grown Larch Trees are amazing. And a really nice part no recent fire scars

This is my favorite lake in Montana! We stayed at the hiker/biker site (we were cycling the Great Divide route), and the camp hosts were so friendly and accommodating. They came out to greet us upon our arrival and showed us to our site-- right on the water! The hiker/biker site is not only a prime spot, but it can accommodate many people, making it great for those of us hikers/bikers who can't always make reservations in advance.

We really enjoyed our couple days at Holland Lake Campground. The view is wonderful. Check out the photo from our spot at site 3. We rented kayaks and paddled the full length of the lake and it was gorgeous. The campground host Curt was super friendly and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Breathtaking views without the strenuous hike! Accessibility info and site description of the day use area/picnic site: The road is paved most of the way there- no treacherous forest service roads to get to this location. Follow the signs to the day use area, just past the first campground. The parking lot is an open, dirt-covered area and does not have disabled/van-accessible parking spaces. The short trail to the recreation area is a wide dirt/gravel path that goes from the parking lot up and over a small hill to the large entrance sign. Once there, the public restroom is to the left, and two picnic areas are up on the hill on either side. Continuing toward the lake, there is no particular trail. The landscape slopes downhill and the ground is mostly grassy. Two benches offer a beautiful view of the lake, or continue heading down toward the lake to find additional picnic tables to the left and right. At the waterline, there's a small gravel beach area that has soft, uneven terrain. Total distance from the center of the parking area to the edge of the lake is about 350 feet. There is a $5 day use fee. This was my first time visiting Holland Lake and I loved it so much we went back the next day! We brought a wheelchair for my husband's grandma, and didn't have too much trouble pushing the wheelchair until we got close to the picnic tables on the right side by the lake, where there were some soft spots and and roots/pinecones. The only area I had difficulty walking was the gravel beach area, as the ground was soft and uneven. It was surprisingly quiet and peaceful while we were there, with only a couple of other visitors coming and going, though I imagine it's a different experience in the summer months.

Our family has been coming here for 26 years. Every single year has been a real treat. We enjoy the solitude, we love the area and we meet great people including the hosts. Our large family of four generations has always had fun here for all ages in our large family. This year was the exception! While hosts Jim and Heather were awesome, “hosts” Kelly and Tim were horrible. They bullied my elderly parents (my dad is hard of hearing and couldn’t remember his name), and they tried reserving a FCFS site for their own family. Our group was there first, occupying the site and paying for it the night before (site was FCFS). These people are supposed to be hosts! All Kelly did was tell the whole time was spew insults and yell. She yelled at kids, yelled at adult guests, yelled to get into the bathroom, yelled at her own husband, yelled at my parents and yelled at pets. She is simply miserable. She was a bully who tried to harass everyone in our group. I know labor is hard to find, but when USFS allows people like this to remain on site, It becomes a leadership issue. Jim and Heather are more than capable of running this place. They would probably do better without such bullies on site. When the concessionaire, the sheriff and the forest service have to come “calm things down” , it’s a problem. We had five sites complain on these “hosts” that we know of, during our stay. We will continue our trips to this beautiful slice of heaven in Montana, because it’s our home and we couldn’t love any place more! It’s “Memory Lake” for our family. But I implore this concessionaire (and USFS) to step up and find competent hosts. No bullies needed here! What took place during our family vacation was uncalled for and quite simply, ruined our trip.

A great visit!! We stayed two nights in late June. It was pretty warm and the campground was very dusty. The lake is absolutely beautiful and a great temperature. We had a great time paddle boarding. The bathrooms are clean, did not smell, and pretty good for a forest service campground. The mosquitoes come out in the later evening and early morning. This place is a gem and I greatly recommend visiting. Only complaints: atv traffic and dust.

Holland Lake was absolutely beautiful this year. Clear, warm water (no pollen) and minimal smoke. Great hike to the waterfall with plenty of amazing scenery

Beautiful lake, well equipped and we'll managed campgrounds. They are booked for the season, but do have some first-come campsites you might snag if you arrive early in the day.

Cleanest campground we’ve ever visited! The bathrooms even had flush toilets with a sink, which was very nice. Even if you’re “roughing it,” sometimes it’s nice to be able to wash your hands. The campsite host was super nice and helpful. We camped here opening weekend of the season (5/11/19), and nearly every spot was taken by the time we arrived at 11:00 am, so we got very lucky! We noticed afterwards that some sites can be reserved in advanced online, so we will do that in the future. The lake is a beautiful emerald green surrounded by mountains. Lots of people were kayaking or boating, and there was a designated swim area in the day use area (which also has a small fee). Overall, a wonderful area that we will visit again and again.
