Lots to do here at WV's second largest state park. Located in the rural Hacker Valley there's hiking, camping, a pool, restaurant, and many recreational activities. There's also 10 cabins, most of which were constructed by the WPA in the 1930's. Of special interest is the several waterfalls throughout the park. This is mountainous, rugged country so be prepared if you want to see them.

Beautiful park that is quiet and peaceful. Newly installed Disc Golf course that would suit any skill level. Long and short tee areas. I will definitely return and enjoy Holly River again.

I was looking for a place to have a great time and I found it in this park. everything is great enough, clean, great staff, patient, camping places are good, the trails are clean and marked. when you get off the road to the park, navigation will tell you to turn right. but drive further down the road straight. so you will get to the office. I don't know why there is a point in the wrong place on the map. but it's not a problem. I really liked the park, it's worth adding a swing to this park... almost heaven.

We travelled here from Toronto Canada. We were blown away by the beauty of this campground and had a lovely site (35) that backed onto the river. Woke up to a deer on our site one morning. The bathrooms were always clean, staff super friendly and helpful. The WiFi was very strong and good enough to catch the baseball games we didn't want to miss. It was the most picturesque park to unwind and take a break from the hustle and bustle. Zero bugs. One day we drove to a historic grist mill which was really interesting (the drive as well). Ontario Parks has nothing on this state park, I hope we will return!

Can't say enough good things about this park. Picturesque, & tranquil. Our family's favorite campground. Huge shaded campsites. (Book early if you want riverfront!) Clean bathrooms. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. The on-site restaurant "The Cookhouse" is cozy & everything we've ordered has been delicious. Also, they will serve your food outside at the picnic tables if you prefer, or like us, have your dog with you. The park offers educational programs most days. We have done the tree identification, archery, and learned about making apple butter & enjoyed all 3. Many hiking trails & waterfalls, swimming holes, & gorgeous picnic spots. Good trout fishing. My son caught about 10 good sized brook & rainbow trout this week. The campground itself is sprawling & relatively level- great for family bike rides or long walks even with the littles. The camp office had odd unmarked hours the most recent week we stayed, but there is a grocery store & gas station just a couple miles down the mountain in Hacker Valley that has everything you might need. (& cheaper & bigger bundles of firewood than the park sells if you're looking for it). It's a 3+ hour drive for us, but it has become a yearly "must do" trip.
