Great place to camp, swim, picnic, play and admire nature. Chuck, the camp host, was very friendly, kind, and professional. Available bathroom/showers were clean. Tent spot (site 41) was level. Be sure to contact camp host upon arrival if interested in a spot that has an orange cone. Recommend bringing a leaf blower/broom to clear out pines from camp spot. This is a lovely national park worth checking out.

Great spot! Camping is nice. Luckily there was hardly any one else there. The campsites are a little close to each other though. We arrived very late but camp hose chuck still got us in so we could camp for the night. Has showers, bathroom, firepit, charcoal grill, pick nick tables and benches.

Quiet and peaceful. We have been coming here for over 20 years. Watched it thrive for years until Covid hit. I think it was a series of events, all relatively close together that led to most of its current state. First storm damage to the bath house and swimming area restrooms left them unusable, Covid didn’t help popularity, vandals burned down the overlook, and the camp host who had been there for years left. After all that, it seems the place went downhill fast. Terrible local rumors were starting to emerge. Thank god for Chuck. He is the new camp host and has been working tirelessly to reconstruct what he can. He was able to re-open the camping area because it was “closed due to ongoing vandalism”, secure the funding for rebuilding of the bath house, ran off the delinquent’s mostly at his own risk, and re-establishing a police presence for campers piece of mind. Our last trip recently was as magical as our first 20 years ago and we can thank Chuck for all his work making that possible. The whippoorwill’s calling in the early morning are a treat to wake up to. There are a pair of bald eagles that call this lake home too! There are cedar trees, wild flowers, and dogwoods blooming all over the park. Truly a hidden gem

Such a magical spot! Tons of space, a romantic little island, nice trails. Pls make sure to drop the $5 in the self-pay box – totally worth it. Everything is clean and so well-kept. Ppl came to fish and camp too. Can’t wait to be back!

Lake is clean; active fishing and swimming at a small beach. The forest service is doing what it can with the limited budget and manpower. Chuck at the campground is a saint and will help however he can. The showers are better than I expected. The roads could use updating. I prefer campsites with full utilities (read sewer) but all in all it’s a nice campground. Playground isn’t much to entertain the kids so make sure to bring other things to occupy them.

Such a beautiful place. So quiet and peaceful you felt like whispering so as not to disturb the serenity! Campsites are all back in with different sizes. Trails and fishing and even a basketball court but needs cleaning. It has a newer bathhouse in campground but overall the area is a bit rundown but still beautiful. Proposal of $25/night for camping with electric and water.

Beautiful place! We boo docked with our 28 foot fifth wheel, there are one or two primitive sites which could accommodate. This place is a hidden gem, and the camp host is super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

This place is only open during the day right now. No bathrooms open, it’s honestly creepy. As a woman alone with her dog.. would not recommend even though the scenery is beautiful. It needs to be taken care of better, trash everywhere.

Camp Host Lynn was very nice and helpful. the day area is pretty run down which will give you a creapy vibe pulling in but the campground is nice. the lake is beautiful and well stocked. swimming, fishing and kayaking. We ended up staying longer then expected because we enjoyed the place. It did say no tent camping because the bathroom is closed due to a plumbing issue but people brought their tents and potties. there is a dump station that's free. great prices, great place.

We thoroughly did not enjoy our visit here, but we are not fishermen, nor did we RV camp. We stopped here thinking it would be a nice spot to have a picnic while driving cross country. The water was gross and mucky and muddy and smelly, with dead fish. There were flies and mosquitos and tons of other bugs all around. There was no shade over the picnic tables, no restrooms open, trash everywhere, and just overall disappointing.

Scarey.. I'm sure in its day it was a beautiful place but now it's abandoned only weird suicidal flies , not even birds or squirrel. Very very creepy place we left early the next day. Very sad.
