Hon-Dah RV Park

I am ambivalent about this one. The park setting is great as it is in a beautiful pine forrest. The sites are mostly nice and spaceous. Be careful, though, there are exceptions such as crossroad pull throughs. Now we go downhill. The park roads layout is a bewildering Cretan labyrinth like the back streets in Venice. Not all the roads have clear signs and the site numbers are hard to see. Don't try to find your site at night. Given all of that, it would be nice to get an escort to your site the first time. These roads are also quite full of potholes and axle cracking speed bumps every few dozen yards. The 5 mph speed limit here is insane, but exceed that and you will get finger wagging. There are three laundromats here, but in two of them every last machine was out of order. In the third one 2/3 of the machines were in the same condition. In general, this park had an air and look of not being very well maintained.

In late September the temperature was perfect. It seems there are plenty of longer term tenants that have made a home here. Although each lot looked clean and well kept. I would assume with the long term tenants, this RV Park is preferable. From my 2 day stay, I can't complain. It was peaceful and still carried the nature vibe, especially with the random squirrel wandering about. The shower room was very clean and temperature controlled. The outlet didn't work however. I would definitely come back to stay in the future.

We really enjoy staying here, we've been 4 different times and the spaces we have stayed in were all roomy and clean. The park now has over 700 spaces, so look online at the park map before you call and choose several spots you think you might like. They do have 2 laundry rooms that were large and clean too. The last spot we stayed at was in the new area and our spot was ALL ankle breaker size rocks, so I spent a lot of time clearing those off that spot. You're welcome. 🤣

I looked on the website it said they have monthly sites. So we drive over . The lady behind the desk was talking to me like she didn't want to be there. And said no you can only stay 3 weeks then leave for 3 weeks and pay a weekly rate of over $200. If you want to stay a month then you got to reserve it in October so I figured they were full. Nope not even close I drove through the long term area it was half empty. And I have a friend staying there and he said he has never heard of reserving in October he didn't. And monthly rent is a little over 500 . So I see it as they just want more money. Will not go back.

Much nicer than expected. Our space was clean, quiet, and in the tall pines. Staff helpful and friendly. Right across the street from the restaurant/casino. We'll stay there again next time we're in the Show Low area.

Just some random observations after staying a week towards the back (300's to 400's) where most permanent residents are. Certainly a more quiet area than the smaller spaces nearer to the front and noisy road. The cable is good with many channels (I believe from Direct TV). There are glitches, like streaks and dashes that occur randomly and sometimes it will freeze, but otherwise better than needing a dish. Be aware you will need a TV with a Clear QAM tuner that is made to receive cable channels, not just OTA signals (There's no OTA stations). Some cheaper TV's don't have this, even those Seiki's in our 2016 Thor. We had to go to Walmart to get a new TV (TCL) to replace ours. Roads are somewhat hard to walk on - very clumpy brown dirt and rocks, but cooler than the decorative rock at the site which can burn dogs feet at mid-day. There is a water truck that waters down the dirt throughout day to keep dirt down. It can easily get to 90 deg or more in mid- July. So A/C needed during day and heater by early morning (54 deg). Many days can be around 82 deg for a high in rainy weather. Power remained stable, even through a storm or two. Only one glitch. The free WiFi is just terrible. Could hardly connect most of time on any devices. Had to rely on cell phone service for internet access. May depend on where antennas are located in relation to your spot. The water can smell bad on occasion. I don't know why. Nighttime - tall ponderosa pines block most stars. Very bright at night due to people's decorative lights all around and under vehicles. No road lighting thank goodness. Very calm winds for monsoon season. Gas is cheapest at the Hon Dah Mini Mart. Just buy your water elsewhere like Walmart or Safeway. The Casino uses older machines and tables are not always open. Get a spot with pines providing shade. The spaces are quite large towards the back. They have 500 spaces now and are building 300 more towards the back which should be ready by next year. Basically, it's a good place to stay cool for a while in mid-summer, if only they improve the WiFi. If you have Starlink, you're good! No ants or nasty bugs to speak of. No animals except for a few squirrels and wild horses walking around.

Stayed at the RV several times and it's always a great experience. The long term residents are so nice and welcoming and the office staff is exceptional. We love it there all the beauty of wilderness camping paired perfectly with creature comfort.

The staff is Wonderful and so very pleasant!! Stayed here for 6 days in June. Nice spot in back section but hard to get in because almost all the sites are permanent RVers. Also make sure you look at spot before paying because the first spot given, there was No Way we would have fit. Also if you want to use the bathroom/shower rooms, you will need a key

The 5 star service has been super friendly both times I have camped there. The environment doesn't feel as "holiday-ish" as I would expect. It seems to be geared toward long term RVers and less toward weekenders making me feel a bit like I was camping in someone's back yard. It was very peaceful and beautiful and the grounds were clean. It's a good spot for home-base camping for touring around the eastern White Mountains. If your family or group is a lively bunch, this may not be the best suited place.

Stayed 2 nights in Dec, 2021 in a 30' RV. Upon arrival to a 500 site camp, only 2 sites were available. One was too tight to get into and the other was far from the bathhouse. The place has a lot of fulltime empty campers from what we could see. The front desk gave me the wrong instructions twice for getting into the pull-thru sites. The place is full of lovely trees but this makes the sites very, very, very tight. The bathhouses have only two rooms for each section of the campground and they are very unclean. Very poorly maintained. The showers at the office close with the office and the men's was out of order as was the laundry. This was our 18th RV park in two months and ranks at the bottom of the list. We will not return and cannot recommend.

Beautiful RV park, kids park, picnic area, beautiful pine trees. Looking forward to taking our 5th wheel there for the summer

We were a little disappointed in this park. It was very difficult to navigate in the down pour of rain. And our site was between two tall pines, you could tell that others have had problems getting in by the amount of broken lenses on the ground. Escorted parking would be great for this park, who's roads are poorly marked. Roads really need an upgrade, new gravel or re-asphaulting would make a big visual improvement. Otherwise rate is good and staff were friendly and helpful.

Lay out of park is crazy, its huge with more spaces being added. easy to get turned around. Our group was at least half a mile from one another. Reasonably priced.

Let's be real, for you folks that don't know or are just starting out you might think casinos aren't bad. I retired 25 years ago and traveled from Phoenix to N Y during that time and there's very few people that have been in more casino than me. oh u might win a few bucks here and there but your not going to win like we did before the virus. Forget it your just not going to win like yesterday bottom line
