Honeymoon Flat Campground

RV Park

Overview

Overview

Honeymoon Flat Campground in Bridgeport, California sits against the dramatic backdrop of the Eastern Sierra, offering a rugged mountain camping experience for travelers seeking solitude in high-elevation terrain. This location places visitors near wide-open alpine landscapes, granite peaks, and rushing trout streams characteristic of Mono County. Honeymoon Flat Campground appeals to self-contained campers looking for a classic Sierra Nevada getaway.

Location & Surroundings

Approaching via U.S. Route 395, travelers navigate a landscape defined by towering peaks, sagebrush flats, and dramatic seasonal weather changes. The Bridgeport area experiences crisp alpine air, intense summer sun, and frequent afternoon winds, requiring RVers to prepare for fluctuating mountain conditions. Elevation plays a major role here, with surrounding ridges climbing well above the valley floor to shape an environment dominated by big skies and stark geological formations.

Amenities & Park Features

Because specific on-site infrastructure details are not universally documented, RVers should verify critical operational logistics directly prior to arrival. Travelers must confirm hookup availability, water access points, trash disposal procedures, and maximum vehicle length restrictions for their specific rig. Expect a rustic setting where self-sufficiency, water management, and proper waste disposal dictate the daily routine of managing an RV setup.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The surrounding region serves as a gateway to legendary Eastern Sierra destinations, including the historic mining town of Bodie State Historic Park, the mineral-rich waters of Mono Lake, and the alpine waters of Bridgeport Reservoir. Anglers frequently target local trout fisheries along the East Walker River, while hikers access trailheads leading deep into the Hoover Wilderness. Scenic driving opportunities abound along mountain passes like Sonora Pass and Tioga Pass into Yosemite National Park.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location suits independent road-trippers, self-contained trailer owners, and outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize backcountry access over resort-style conveniences. Sierra Nevada explorers tackling Route 395 will find this setting ideal for a quiet basecamp away from crowded coastal highways. Travelers comfortable with rustic camping and high-altitude weather patterns will extract the most value from a stay here.

This place is so close and dear to my heart. It is in the Toiyabe National Forest south of Bridgeport.I have camped here on many occasions and have fell in love with this campground. The campgrounds are pretty much very basic, each one having a bear locker,a picnic table, and a spot for a tent.If you are lucky you might get a campground on the riverside. This campground is absolutely awestrucking. It's basically an huge personal backyard. You can spend hours roaming around in the forests, fishing in the creek, and photographing. The host of the campground is so kind and you can get the free wifi password from him if you ask nicely. There are vault toilets as bathrooms here but they are surprisingly very clean. This campground is a absolute must in this region.

Great little campground right on the creek. Quiet and well kept. Dan was very friendly and engaging. He does a terrific job of making sure the camp is well tended and clean. Will be back next year.

Had such a great time at Honeymoon Flat (lower loop). The host was so sweet and very knowledgeable of the area. The campsite was clean and very peaceful. The restrooms are also really clean and well stocked. Definitely plan on coming back. It's a peaceful camp site with limited spaces so it doesn't get over crowded. We had a few deer hanging out near our tent which was cool. There's bears in the area so the provided bear box was nice. We stored all our food and scented items there.

This is a really nice campground although not a lot of sites. The camp spots are fairly spread out and some of them have a great view. Vault toilets, fire rings, and bear boxes are provided. There is an even, gravel square are for tents. The campground host is very friendly!
