Ugh I wish I wasn't writing a 3 star. I definitely wanted it to be a 5 star but it is a literal roll of the dice on whether or not you are going to have a peaceful experience due to the campsites being SO CLOSE together. We had site 28BU and the first night was nice because we had very quiet respectful (adult) neighbors only on one side of us (#29) but today when we returned from our long day of hiking we came back to a family of 5 plus a dog. The kids were all very little, very vocal and very active (oldest being about 8 years old) and you must see the pic I've posted to see how close their tent (red) was to ours (blue). I don't see how this could possibly be considered 2 sites and not a shared site. I also cannot understand how the campground is a literal free-for-all as far as dynamic especially due the close proximity of the sites. No reserved areas for families with children. No reserved areas for couples etc. Whoever can just book wherever and you just have to deal with what you get. We ended up packing up and were lucky to find vacancy at a motel close by because you are not just camping alongside your neighbors at 28/26 you are quite literally camping WITH them and let's be honest, not everyone would willingly sign up to share a campsite with a family of 5, but here, that can quite possibly be the case. Ofcourse no refund and they weren't able to accommodate us with another site that we expressed we would've happily paid for even though there were several empty sites.

This campsite was clean, easy to get around, and had big campsites. The bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen for a camp ground. The bathrooms also had outlets!

Amazing campground, super nice staff, beautiful river spot close by. Cant say enough good things about this park. Visitor center is right next to it which is incredibly convenient. Do know that pets must be on leash at all times and are not allowed on trails so keep that in mind when you plan your trip 😊

My favorite place in the world. I’ve camped here probably 60 times, and we have never had a bad experience. Except the year that the plumbing backed up and they closed the restrooms. Great campsites, although I am not telling which is my favorite. This is a perfect place to camp with friends and family in adjacent campsites. Flush toilets and coin operated showers. $1.25 gets you 5 minutes. There are a number of beautiful trails. The river in early summer is accessible for kayaks, but even more fun in late spring. The river is also worth exploring at night. There are bats, frogs, and amazing stargazing by the Eel River. There is no more beautiful forest than an old growth redwood forest.

Beautiful campground set right among the Redwoods! Some sites have more relative privacy than others, some have giant trees or stumps, some are wide open. We stayed in site 38BU in a large SUV with a rooftop tent, and we're very happy with the amount of trees and scenery surrounding us. You can see in the photos, we had plenty of room for another vehicle or a couple of other tents. Facilities were very clean and close to this site, and the park visitor center is adjacent to the campground. The entire campground is ALWAYS in the shade because of the tree density.

Campground is beautiful and very peaceful. Only downsides are during off season they cram everyone in right by each other. 0 privacy. Bathrooms didn’t have soap in all of them and were quite dirty. Didn’t even bother to shower. For the money you pay to camp here (and because there are 0 other options during off season) and the limited access it would have been nice to have clean bathrooms and at least a clean spot to set your things while you change or brush your teeth. Recommend only using the bathroom when you have to….use the spicket to brush your teeth or wash your face that’s at your campsite! But very beautiful and the redwoods are amazing.

Let me tell you, best spot for camping. Camp site #48 for the win (fits an SUV vehicle) Depending on your site, you have ample room for flat tent set up, a nice fire pit, very sweet staff (who have free stickers for kiddos upon request) and firewood sold on site. Hard to see the stars at night, however bathrooms are decent and you’re absolutely among some of the tallest trees in the world. Very peaceful and I’d love to stay here again.

This is My family's favorite camp ground and we drive almost 12 hours to get there when we go. Visitor Center is within walking distance from any campsite and would recommend to all the family to go look at as they have plenty of history to see as well as it has a museum in there. Gift shop as well to buy your souvenirs. Love this place.

Gorgeous campground in the heart of the redwoods. Not private at all and had some unclear rules and noisy neighbors. The facilities were nice and bathrooms/showers were mostly clean. My favorite amenity was the dishwashing sink located at the first bathroom! My second favorite “amenity” was the good Verizon cell phone coverage. Absolutely perfect campground location for visiting the entire Humboldt State Park, only a 10-30min drive to every awesome hike/tree grove.

Site # 53 - tent camped 5/16/24 - 5/19/24: The Avenue of Giants is BEAUTIFUL! Did get windy/cold at night so wear layers if tent camping! Pros: #53 backs right up to the Avenue of Giants Campground is in walking distance to the visitor center & a few short trails. Pretty cool to just stroll along the Avenue Potable water Great T-Mobile service - helpful in researching/planning of the day Fire rings & bear boxes are provided - firewood is $10 cash at check in (you’re not allowed to burn fallen branches which is a good thing) Close driving distance to Founders Grove & Rockefeller Loop (a bit further but my favorite!) About a 2 hour drive to Prairie Creek Redwoods & 1.5 hours to Sue Meg State Park (gorgeous hikes down to the ocean!) Cons: Was right across from the bathroom. Good if you have to go at night, but there are so many people passing through to get to the bathroom/dish sink Sites are super close together with no privacy. So close, I could hear people people snoring & turning on their inflatable mats. First night there was a rowdy group of teenagers by the bathroom Bathrooms were pretty gross. Yes, happy to have toilet paper, but inconsiderate people leave pee droplets all over the toilet & the floor. Wet bathroom floors stayed that way until the morning I left, when I saw somebody cleaning them Road noise being right next to 101

Had an amazing time camping here last weekend! The staff on site was so helpful! Super clean and well kept. It was truly beautiful sleeping next to the redwoods.

Sleep under the canopy of the Redwoods, among new growth and ancient stumps. Clean. Firepit (firewood for sale $10). Food storage. Picnic table. Restroom/shower. Steps away from the visitor center (must visit for history of the area) and gift shop run by friendly volunteers. Right off the 101 Hwy on Avenue of the Giants. I had wanted to sleep in the Redwoods for years and opted to camp here rather than check in to a hotel. It's cozy, feels safe and conveniently accessible to parks and hiking trails. One of my favorite campgrounds. I will definitely go back.

well ,we(7 adults & 4 children) booked two campsites for two nights, two hours later after setting everything up Park Rangers came to warn us to keep noise down, well we had two 5 years and two 1 years old babies, The children were so excited and happy there ,it was impossible to make them behave like as if they there were in a library, Park Rangers came back later same day to warn us again, No noise or Talking to loud, children still having fun,..Next morning Park Rangers came back with another warning, children were not expected to cry at night, in other words, No noise 24 hours a day, so we packed all our stuff and left, aside from all of that, it is a beautiful place, clean restrooms, NO RECOMMENDED FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN,!!!

Campground right next to the eagle River, and lots of trails without nice old growth. Also nice bike road North and South through the redwoods. Camping is great

Camping under the redwood canopy. Beautiful and clean. A little bit of noise being sandwiched between road and highway. Fun watching birds and squirrels. It's a shame the Eel River across the road is barely flowing and full of algae.
