I’m very disappointed to be writing this review, as my family and I have camped at the Huntington / Fox Fire KOA multiple times in the past and used to feel it was a safe, family-friendly campground. Unfortunately, our most recent stay was anything but. Safety: During our weekend stay, our cooler was stolen from underneath our camper. We later learned that our neighbors also had a cooler taken, and another camper down the row had an outdoor speaker stolen. When I reported this to management, I was told it was my fault for leaving the cooler outside and that the security cameras are only used to protect KOA property, not guests’ belongings. Customer Service: What ultimately led to this one-star review was how I was treated by the manager. When I called to ask if anyone could review the cameras, I was met with hostility and told again that the theft was my fault. The situation escalated when I was informed that if I posted a review warning others about the theft, my group would be banned from returning. Other Concerns: Beyond the theft and the poor customer service, the campground has noticeably declined. The constant highway noise, strong odors from a nearby sewage dump, and unclean bathhouse facilities made the experience even worse. Summary: This campground has gone from being a reliable family stop to a place I no longer feel safe or welcome. Management’s response to theft and criticism is to blame the customer and threaten bans, rather than address real safety issues. I would strongly caution others to consider these factors before booking.

This KOA literally sits on the highway. You can see traffic from your site and hear it at all hours. Sites are tight packed. I stayed 2 nights too many in a pull thru with “more privacy”. There isn’t a private site in this place. Each night my entire row was empty with the exception of myself and someone directly next to me (a new group, each night). They make no effort to space folks out-which is absurd in a tightly packed spot with many open sites. The “deluxe patio” sites sit unused because 90% of folks here are permanent or seasonal, and no one wants to pay these prices to hear the highway. Staff is pleasant. I didn’t use bathrooms or laundry, there are 2. This should be a KOA journey. More than one night here is quite unpleasant.

We've been camping at this campground for over a decade, and it used to be one of our favorite places to escape to as a family. Unfortunately, this most recent trip was by far the worst we've ever had, so much so that we left wondering if it was under new management. First, the banana bikes (always a fun highlight for the kids) were all broken except for four. Even worse, we weren’t allowed to rent those four that were still functional. This was a major disappointment, especially since the bikes have always been a staple of the experience here. Next, we went to grab a treat from the camp store, only to find that they were out of ice cream and the freezer completely removed. It may seem like a small thing, but little moments like these are what make camping trips special, and it felt like a pattern of neglect was becoming clear. The most concerning issue, however, was the state of the bathrooms. They were filthy, with visible mold, slow-draining showers, standing water, drain flies, roaches, hair, and even used bandaids left around. The individual showers no longer had wire racks to hold toiletries, which made showering even more inconvenient and unhygienic. We used the family shower during our stay and were shocked that it wasn’t cleaned a single time until we complained. Even then, it was only given a superficial wipe-down. These bathrooms are in serious need of a deep clean and consistent daily maintenance. It honestly breaks my heart to write this kind of review after so many years of great memories here, but the condition of the facilities and the general lack of upkeep made it impossible to ignore. What used to feel like a welcoming, well-run campground now feels neglected and mismanaged. Unless there are some serious improvements made soon, I’m sad to say we may be in search of another favorite campground.

We stayed in a "deluxe" cabin for a weekend which could have been a nice weekend away, but the cabin was extremely dirty and not well kept. We wound up having to purchase cleaning supplies and new linens for the bed in order to make it livable for the weekend. When I spoke with the office about the cabin, I was told that the housekeeping worker was surprised by my claims that it was dirty and that she had found that she cleans and comes back an hour later and that it seemed dirty again. What a mystery this has turned out to be... The office worker went back and charged our card for more money after we checked in without our knowledge, stating that our rewards account had expired. She says she called and left a voicemail, but we have no missed calls or messages from her about these charges. Another mystery... We cant say much about the RV/Tent sites, or any of the other amenities because we didnt use any of these things. I can say that it seemed that not much was well kept, the beach area looked run-down, with high grass in some places, and there was litter throughout the campground. Oh, and giant turds all over the dog park, but there were no bags there in the bag thing so how are you supposed to clean up after your dog? No mystery here...I didnt let my dog go in there at all. I'm sure they make plenty of money on the long-term campers there and will likely not miss the money they would get on future returns from me or my family. I do hope they can soon get the mysterious filth that reappears in the cabins after they have been "cleaned" taken care of. This sounds like a job for Scooby Doo and the gang.

Campground is nice and grounds are well kept. Lots of room to walk dogs. It is sandwiched between I64 & US 6 so there is highway noise and it carries at night. Be aware if you are coming in from the east, there is a very sharp right turn off US 6. (Almost a U-turn) Staff was very friendly. Store was well stocked. Bathrooms and showers need a deep cleaning. It looks like they do superficial cleaning of toilets and sinks, but floors had layers of dirt and showers were gross. Okay for an over night stop.
