I never write reviews! But, given the quality of the campground, its location and Dave and Valerie as exceptional and attentive owners, I thought it was necessary to share what I consider a best-kept secret! My husband and I were first time travel trailer owners this summer and after MUCH research on campgrounds for a location to suit us East of Halifax, this was the one that was a great fit. Location, location, location... the property immediately fronts the warmest of salt water in Nova Scotia, easily accessible and peaceful and/or fun. Great! And what incredible sunsets! And there are other beaches nearby should you wish to venture around. Location, location, location.... so close to many favorite spots in Cape Breton and on the Mainland of Nova Scotia....we nicknamed it "the Hub" Size of campground - Great! There are spots that can be private and you feel as if you are being hugged by the natural beauty, because you are - it is not row after row of trailers on top of one another as is the case with many private campgrounds. We found it to be very quiet, very peaceful. There are also cabins on the property - very well kept with beautiful views. Coming back to Dave and Val - they could not do enough for us. A combination of practical, extremely hardworking and with a pleasant sense of humor, and seemed to somehow always find the time to have a relaxing conversation. We stayed for 3 nights and had a nice relaxing time. Who knew that this was right in our back yard. The view was beautiful and the sites very clean. We didn’t rent any boats this time but maybe next time. We look to support local and will be back again. Might see us again this year. Thanks Juanita, Dave and Floyd.

Hossai Masroor

Absolute huge rip off! We paid around 70 bucks. If you're planning on staying here for a long while, I wouldn't recommend it! The campgrounds are too crowded and close to other campsites. There is no breathing room. I personally prefer more seclusion when it comes to a campsite. I cannot stand being in close proximity to other campsites! Provincial parks cost less money and you get a bigger campsite with more seclusion!

Douglas Beach

Excellent campground; clean, quite, secure and well maintained. The owner's Valerie and Dave are very friendly making customer service their top priority. The location is perfect, placing it about halfway between Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury, without the noise of traffic heard camping inside town. The campground provides easy access to many local tourist attractions located in a country setting by the water with beautiful scenery and sunsets. Lots to do for the whole family and a great launching site to tour the area. We highly recommend this campground.

My family and I stayed here from July 5-7th. The campground is beautiful. Some of the spots offer a stunning vista of the setting sun. Being right next to the ocean is also an added bonus. The owners were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. Hyclass is a gem of a campground and we will stay again.
