This place is pretty and the historical house is super cool. However, I came from Evansville to enjoy a boys trip with my friends that I don’t get to see often. First off, the guy at the pay booth had no idea what he was doing. He charged us for three nights when we were only staying for 2 nights. My friend arrived Thursday night and they woke him up from his tent at 7 am to get his spot registered even though he reserved online days before. Then Saturday morning comes around and apparently the campground owners camp in the middle of the sites. So a staff member decided to come bring her dog over to our site (which made our dogs freak out) then she continued to stare at my until I finally turned my music down. She then makes a comment saying “that’s better” . I tried to tell her to get her dog away from our site as he was getting worked up by her dog and she just stood there looking at me . Will not be camping here again. Update… we left early. And are now planning another trip elsewhere. If you’re willing to drive, Shawneetown national forest is much nicer. Pounds hollow is a great spot to enjoy camping and the beauty of nature. The camp sites are well kept and you never have to worry about being stalked or “baby sat” . While camping. The sites have much more privacy and you only pay $11 per night. They also do not have staff on site begging you to pay $24 dollars per car for 3 nights.

Quiet, well maintained, great camp hosts, clean shower and restroom facilities.

Awesome place to camp. The managers, Lonnie and Sharon are very nice, friendly and they make you feel welcome! The host, Gene and Julie, are very nice and friendly as well! I’ve been camping here for about 15 + years. I do a little fishing until the grass in the lake at the ramp gets too bad to get the trolling motor through as it is now.

Favorite place to camp at North face location. Has two lakes and the old Rickenbaugh house built in 1874. The restroom facilities are nice with hot shower and pull down seat so you can sit with detachable shower head.

Nice enough for a National Forest campground. Older facility but kept clean by the contractor. When we arrived, we hadn’t even finished parking on a site when the camp host sped past us in his golf cart on our right when I was just initiating a back up turn. He proceeded to block the road so I could go no further. He was quickly joined by another host in a pickup truck. They were both on us before we could even settle into our chosen site. While they were friendly enough it felt like I was being assaulted for the camping fee. A very odd experience that I hope they dont repeat with other campers. Enjoy your stay.

The area itself was gorgeous. The park is clean and very well maintained. The nightly rates are affordable and worth it! You can buy firewood at the park entrance for $8 a bundle, as well as ice for $3 a bag. I don't suggest the ice tho, it is a tiny bag and the gas station a few miles down the road has huge bags for $5. Clean bathrooms! The campgrounds are perfect for a weekend away. We spent the weekend in one of the north slope spots and it was great. A lot of the camp sights are wheelchair friendly which is a bonus. We got a spot right next to a bath house and not only was it clean, the tp was thick! I also want to note that the park management and staff were so kind and helpful. Overall my family had a wonderful experience and we will FOR SURE be back again soon!! *Important note* There was poison ivy EVERYWHERE around our camping spot. So if you're even remotely allergic or reactive to it, make sure you check your surroundings or ask for a site that has less wodded area.

We went out with our first time “ Time Out Motorcycle Camper “, around October month. First time camping there. Learned from fell campers of how to pay for our stay. Money in the tube deal. They were helpful since they were no one at the office. I guess it was close due to winter months and COVID-19 time. But other than that the camping was clean fun with our pet. Camp sight was large!. Out house near,, Fire wood was free at that time, but we had to fetch for it in the woods, that has been cut. Mostly pine wood. Campsites was far apart!. I give it a 4 star because there is no firewood near by and lack of information where to pay at. Other then that it was enjoyable!..

This place was an excellent surprise!! Went here with a bunch of friends. It was nice and secluded in the state forest, the sites were well maintained, and they even had a newly added restroom with a shower. Had a lot of fun here!
