Indian Springs

Overview

Indian Springs State Park is uniquely positioned as one of the oldest state parks in the country. Located in Flovilla, Georgia, it is famous for its mineral-rich spring water which has drawn visitors for centuries. The park offers a serene environment where history meets natural beauty. RVers will find a well-maintained campground that serves as a quiet retreat from the bustle of city life, providing a peaceful backdrop for a multi-day stay.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Middle Georgia, the park is conveniently located between Atlanta and Macon. The landscape is characterized by lush hardwood forests and the gentle flow of Sandy Creek. The surrounding area of Flovilla maintains a small-town charm, while the nearby town of Jackson offers additional supplies. The terrain is relatively flat with shaded groves, making it an ideal spot for those who enjoy wooded settings and a relaxed pace of travel.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground provides over 60 sites equipped with water and electrical hookups suitable for various RV sizes. Guests have access to modern bathhouses, a laundry facility, and a playground for children. One of the standout features is the historic Stone Spring House, where visitors can still collect spring water. The park also features a 105-acre lake, a swimming beach, and several picnic shelters that are perfect for afternoon gatherings.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore several miles of hiking and biking trails within the park boundaries. Just a short drive away, the Dauset Trails Nature Center offers wildlife viewing and more extensive trail systems. For those interested in local history, the on-site Indian Springs Museum details the area's rich heritage. Visitors can also enjoy seasonal boat rentals on the lake or spend a morning fishing along the banks of the creek.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for history buffs and families looking for a classic camping experience without the crowds of a commercial resort. It is a fantastic choice for RVers who prioritize natural tranquility and educational opportunities over high-speed internet or luxury amenities. We had such a wonderful time at Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla, GA! Our RV was in the new section, site 223, and it was absolutely perfect — clean, spacious, and easy to back into ( husband is a truck driver). The newer sites are well laid out with full hookups, some level and unlevel pads, and plenty of room for comfort. The park itself is stunning — peaceful walking trails, beautiful views, and lots of shaded areas to relax. Everything was well maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic getaway with modern amenities, this park is a gem. We’ll definitely be coming back to site 223 again!

Site 22 (old camp loop), great privacy and wooded. Elevated platform with fire pit and table. Walked the trails, viewed the new camp loop (beautiful but less private) and cabin loop (looked brand new with lake view). Spring water smelled bad and tasted just as bad- many jugs lined up but where were the owners? Was able to put my feet in the water and sit on a rock- awesome! Enjoyed the historical check in building with gift shop- sticker and magnet. I would definitely come back if it wasn’t such a long drive. The neighboring shops and ice cream was a highlight- walk there and ring the church bell! Purchased and gift and walked the grounds- extremely cute.

First visit and would not be my last. Great place to walk, picnic, camping or collect spring water and it's free. You can bring your bottles to collect the water. There are wagon available to carry the water to your vehicle. There is a $5 fee as it's a state park. Kid friendly. Miniature golf can be played as well as check out the museum. Definitely worth the drive.

Such a picturesque place — perfect for a peaceful walk over the rocks! It’s also really cool that you can draw water from an old-fashioned well — so beautiful and atmospheric. There’s a nice playground for kids, a lovely lake, and just overall a great spot to enjoy nature. Highly recommend for a family outing or a quiet getaway!
